issues I still experrience even with latest SPMC:

    - micro stuttering here and there (very very few... I am "investigating" because probably they could be network related and I am trying to see if the fix posted somewhere around actually works),

    - lack of advanced video settings (videos sometimes too dark and so on...)

Other than that I can play all files I have and everything is quite useable.

For use as a mediacenter I find the remote handful... if it just were the latest one... compatible with future (?) releases... hopefully...

There are options for brightness, contrast etc in the main android display settings.

I found that the posted fix for micro stuttering across a network worked well for me.

You can test if it's network related by using XBMC from your PC (or other location in the network equivalent to the one the tronsmart is on right now) and pointing to the same media library. If it stutters then it's network related. Try to do that and let us know.

            Hi,
I have installed ROM v 109k and I cannot find those settings... maybe I need to upgrade, but I was waiting for a better rom AND I did not want to loose the ir functionality...
I wil try the micro stuttering fix soon...

Over the past 12 months I bought 4 Android boxes from China - 2 from Minix, and 2 from Tronsmart. In all cases, technical support from the OEMs fizzle away after a few months of product launch. After 6 months, you essentially end up with a box that has no further technical support by the OEMs. I don't think I will buy any more Android boxes from China.

After a ton of research it seems most people recommend getting an Asus Chromebox and installing OpenELEC on it. I'm either going this route or building my own HTPC. I've come to realize it all comes down to firmware / software support. Even the RaspBerri PI can play 1080p smoothly.

Same than you... We can't wait official support (maybe with Minix) after 6 months but unoffical support is so much better ... OpenELec on s802 box, Android custom rom by 'amateurs' devs (much better than official one), and now Linux support is coming for many devices.

So i expect only free acess to SDK for any devs here... follow by rom cooking...
                  nothing more

I did that more than a month ago - with a Asus Chromebox with a standalone OpenElec/KODI installed. So much more reliable and robust. I am now essentially using my Tronsmart and Minix boxes to stream videos from my NAS.
