    $100 Rikomagic MK12 Amlogic S812 with 2GB/16GB, GLan ...

Just saw this. Gearbest lists it for $98.22 on promo for 3 days. Anyone have experience with Rikomagic?
Will this be equal to the X8-h Plus?
After losing my deal on GB for the X8-H Plus for $80, I think I'll grab this one.
I wonder if more S812 boxes with a similar configuration will be coming from the usual makers?
    Any opinions?
    Thanks.

I'm also interested in the MK12 but can't find any user reviews, only sellers.
Think you found the best price and last time I used them with standard delivery it was about 10 days to UK without any taxes to pay.

Better hardware, air mouse and DHL shipping included.
Also great support from the manufacturer.
Hello mo123, I am really not wanting to spend more than $100US.
I don't need the airmouse at this time.
When you say better hardware, are you referring to the Rk3288 vs the Amlogic S812? Or the hardware in general?
        Expedited shipping adds about $7
I respect your opinon and your reply, as well as your dual-boot rom. I do have an interest in the dual-boot Linux rom and have been following your posts on the HPH. Watching to see how it may work on less expensive RK3288 boxes($100). I am also torn between people's reviews relating to Amlogic S8xx and the RK3288 as they relate to video quality and game play respectively.

Thanks for that synopsis mo123, it gives me a better perspective.
How would you say each handles content-laden web browsing?

I had a chance to review the Rikomagic MK12 here: http://hometheatrelife.com/rikomagic-mk12-review/

It's a really nice box. As people have said, 3D gaming is not the greatest for the latest games but stuff like Dead Trigger 2 and Beach Buggy Racing ran well on the medium-low.

Video playback was generally pretty excellent, ethernet is fast but not full Gigabit.

I've also embedded my unboxing here:

Got one of those MK12 devices.

Do you know which third party firmware is compatible with it?
The stock may be ok but i have some issues with Wifi and would like to try another version.

I would be interested, too, mainly for this problem: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...-for-kodi-15-2 and also because of this: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...urn-the-tv-off (although I found out my TV is to blame, I guess the problem could be solved if I managed to "turn off" the HDMI when I power off the box).

I'm waiting for a new box to come, as well as an SD card. Then I could open the box to see what's inside, take a picture, post it here, and hopefully some kind soul will tell me if a third party firmware/custom rom or why not? OpenELEC could work...

Kodi is easy to install with latest firmware - just deinstall the old version and install the new.
Also subtitles were double while playing with Mx player using Hardware rendering - which is easy to fix if you disable or remove com.amlogic.SubTitleService with Titanium Backup.

Still i can't make Miracast to work and WiFi is not working too - it shows the networks in range but when you enter password to join it just stays and does not connect.

Otherwise a nice box with a hardware DTS audio decoder. I can post pix of my board if it helps.

Strange... I got no problem with WiFi, and I tried with different modems/routers, different channels, different networks...

As for Miracast, I don't have compatible devices so I can't test it.

Kodi 15.2 is easy to install... Well I've yet to find a single app that doesn't run on the MK12 with the latest firmware. However, "running" doesn't mean "fully working"... for the time being, I'll stick to SPMC 14.2

Btw for turning the box on/off when turning TV on/off you can disable in Settings>Advanced>CEC > disable CEC on/off .
This CEC option works very nice with my old Sony TV and is very useful. I have a Bravia Sync section on my TV remote and i can use it for video pause/stop/rewind - both MX Player and Kodi work with it.
You can even use arrows to select which app to start from the home screen.
