    Alright. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you are satisfied with a 1080p upscaled and think it looks better, good for you

    But 24, 30 or 60Hz won't make an image look better, not matter what. It'll certainly be smoother, more fluid and all, but in terms of picture quality I don't see the advantage.

      Smoother is the point! Hz (or frames per second) IS a quality of playback not a quality of picture! Your point is? Of course I'd prefer real 4k (not upscaled) but HDMI 2.0 as a standard provides many benefits including color subsampling, look it up.

        That's another story why I don't understand this 4k hype because of missing content
        OK, large screen from a good manufacture with good upscale 1080P could be nice, but for this price I buy an used car

          Quality of playback, agreed.

          Color/Chroma subsampling has been there for... ever. I'd say that most digital video content is subsampled to 4:4:2 or 4:2:0, as HiDef TV (probably SD too, not sure about that), DVD or Bluray. But for some reason unknown to me, HDMI 1.X used no subsampling (4:4:4) or 4:2:2, so content had to be "upsampled" from 4:2:0. With HDMI 2.0, 4:2:0 subsampling can be used thus even more bandwidth is available.

          Anyway... my original point was that 1080p upscaled to 4k doesn't necessary mean better IMAGE quality. Indeed, it could be even worse depending on how good or bad are the scalers (HW or SW). In my case, my samsung bluray player upscales DVD quite badly. And don't forget what kind of "premium" devices we are discussing here

          But as usual, YMMV.

          Regards.

            The Razer Forge Tv Box is probably my next device. A lot of these Chinese boxes are powerful but have software and DRM issues.

            I have the Beelink R89 which works powerful SoC, but has no Netflix HD(DRM), DD/DTS not fully functional, random freezing or stutter on videos.

            I also have the M-195 RTK1195 which also works but the UI is slow and sometimes freezes. Video works but the SoC is underpowered and everything feels sluggish. Kodi support is bad.

            I also have the Ugoos UM3 on the way.Seems to be supported well, I'll reserve my judgment until I get to use it for a while.

              Hmmm, but I can't read the lable at the pcb... and it would be nice to get a picture with a view of top (180°) to the pcb for the overview thread...

                After I found a nice picture of the older pcb, I think it means TRN6A_V20 2014-9-19 HWQ
                But I hope
                2014-9-19 doesn't mean a dev/prototyp pcb, and btw why at Jan 2015 the first time available
                I had done a little update at the overview but will wait for a better pcb picture...

                    To be fair, all RK3288 roms are pretty much compatible. If you're talking about official support, then I agree, but in terms of community, they're all the same. If HPH has better community support, then it's just as good as the R89 and R28 can use it's roms.

                      What is the best RK3288?

                      mo123 is right. B89 & tronsmart use slow emmc, big mistake in my opinion...and for what? just to save some bucks. ENY is even worse... they use the slowest emmc that you can buy. So it's like they say: you get what you pay for... better save some money and buy a better box instead going after the cheapest.

                        I believe the meta version of the R28 has a faster EMMC than the original R28. Not as fast as the HPH or Ugoos but not nearly as slow as the pro model.

                          nope thats wrong, I had the R28 Meta and now the HPH NT-V6 and the HPH has faster eMMC...

                            You misunderstood me, I never said the meta had faster emmc than the HPH but faster than the original R28. I looked it up and where the HPH really outshines is the read speed. Write Speed they are nearly identical .

                            Basically boot up and app load time is far superior on the HPH but in terms of file transfer and anything to do with write the hph has a slight advantage.

                            Don't forget firmware also plays a factor. I've tried Mo's 1.4 firmware and the bootup time was cut in half. So I imagine the bootup time on the HPH is close to non-existent.

                            The Minix X8 H Plus has read and write speeds are lower than a beelink but still manages to be much smoother experience than most of these RK3288 boxes, which is why it costs even more than a high end RK3288 box. Only reason why I got an RK3288 box is because of the better gpu.

                            At the end of the day, if the software isn't well optimized, the experience will suffer.

                              So, what's the conclusion?
                              i want to buy a new box for play mkv some games and kodi/xbmc staff related. My preferences are:
                              - 1080@24hz support.
                              - DTS/AC3 passtrought
                              - HDMI-CEC
                              - Communty support
                              - Kodi support for stream content.

                              My options are:

                              Beelink r89-->107€ from Amazon
                              HPH NT-V6-->150€ from Amazon
                              RKM MK902II --> 106€ from redcoon.es

                              The most important things is the ROM support comunity, because official support is very limited.

                              Actually i think that the most active support is openhour chamaleon player. Is this firmware compatible with other boxes? What are the bugs?

                              I have read that HPH NT-V6 has a good hardware, but is the most expensive. What do u think? Pay 40€ more for this boxes is recommended?

                              Thanks.

                                Separate airmouse costs $25-$30
                                Delivery time was 5 days for me.
                                Might need to wait for Chinese Spring Festival to end first.
                                If you are in a hurry then buy through Amazon, but more expensive.
                                Thanks for your answer, but that guy send box with DHL to spain. In spain all products that come outside europe is stopped in Customs Office and i have to pay a 21% of taxes.
                                So my question is, the difference on price between r89 and HPH is enough for pay more?

                                can i flash your firmware on beelink r89?
