PIPO X7 with KODI 24p playback

Im trying to get proper 24p playback on my Pipo X7 but all ontent that is 23.976 fps is displayed at 24.00fps. Appaerntly its a problem with windows 8.1 but im wondering if anyone has managed to get proper 24p playback and if so what settings did they use?

Do we know that the Ivy Bridge graphics in the Z-series Baytrail SoCs have the 24p fix?

The Baytrail N28xx series "Celerons" have the fix, but the original Ivy Bridge Celeron, Pentium and Core i3/5/7 models had the bug.

My baytrail-d (j1900) doesn't have the bug. If only I could get openelec on this it would be easy to check as I think its a windows issue

Yep - OpenElec on this thing as a dual boot would be amazing.

Have you tried disabling Windows Aero? ISTR that caused issues with 23.976p in some cases on Windows 7.

I think I turned it off I went to advanced settings and changed it to best performance. This unchecked all the settings below, I then tried it and still had the problem.

Is there a definite way to make sure its off in windows 8.1 as the task bar was still see through when I made that change.

I'm also hoping openelec on this device would allow HD audio. As with windows and this processor its limited to DTS and did. My j1900 with openelec does HD audio no problem

Yep - am hoping that the Z-series SoCs are like the N-series and J-series Baytrails and have HD Audio functionality in Linux (and thus OpenElec) even if they don't in Windows because of PAP/driver issues.

I'm guessing the HD Audio functionality could be checked with an Ubuntu build - and people are getting Ubuntu working on 32bit UEFI set-ups (Transformer T100 and Meegopad T01) with these CPUs. When mine arrives I'll have a play. (Should be able to boot an Ubuntu Live USB with a bit of boot loader tweaking I believe)

Kodi with "sync playback to display" option checked can show the actual refresh rate that is being output under "sync to screen information" in "codec info" overlay. MadVR OSD will better show the information, but I am not sure how well MadVR can run on these devices.

Yeah I have sync to display and it shows 24fps when it should be 23.976fps

I presume you are looking the info after "S" ? What do you have for missed, speed, sync, error?

Yeah its next to S, I have ever increasing missed speed and sync are +0.1% ( or something like that) and error goes to 0%

If you are playing 23.976fps content and the sync is +0.1%, either the EDID info that the device is getting is incorrect or your TV likely doesn't have true 24p playback (it displays everything at 24Hz).

That's the thing my TV and avr support 24p in windows there is a 23 and 24 for resfresh rate. And the same setup works fine with openelec on a j1900 system from down stairs. It's only since using windows 8.1 with kodi I've had this problem

Install Monitor Asset Manager - http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm and check what modes are being read from the EDID for your TV.

Nice one I'll try that later.

I installed this and ready my edid. It shows as denon which is my av receiver but monitor is down as generic PNP in fact its a lg dm2780. The only mode line I see is for 1920x1080 60hz and that's the preferred one.

In windows when I look at the monitor page I have only show refresh rates supported by the monitor and 23 and 24 hz are both in there.

I'm not sure the edid information is getting through correct I'll have to try and work out what I'm doing with it. Is it just a case of editing the file to include a modeline for 23.976?
