Going to order a bunch of cheap heatsinks from **** and see what I can come up with.

Think I'll try a heatsink on the heatpad first, and if that doesn't work I'll remove the heat pad and try a replacement.

So annoying that they've not put a decent heatsink in this box.

It's also worth testing VLC Rincewind that has experimental decoding of HEVC and Webm/VP9.

I had trouble playing some HEVC files on an old PC and this version of VLC allowed them to play correctly.

To answer your question - just watching SVT Play in Internet Explorer on my X7.

In "Högsta kvalitet" (720/25p) med "textning på" (subtitles on) I don't get over heating but I am definitely getting dropped frames.

The same programme in the same quality in the Kodi add-on in SVT Play with subtitles on definitely plays better. So far I'd say perfectly. (Though the CPU runs hotter)

And under Ubuntu the same 720/50p files play with no skips or drops. 1080/50i with Bob deinterlacing does well - but slowly the CPUs hit capacity as throttling kicks in - so temperature still an issue.
