My X7 will soon be an "Xbox One Mini"

With the new announcements of Xbox streaming to any Win 10 machine, I am even more excited about this box. ( http://gizmodo.com/man-i-cannot-wait...top-1680923652 ) I want to try the new Win 10 Tech Preview on this thing. Mine's currently in the post office about 10 miles from my house. While it will still need an Xbox One in the house, I can now extend it to all my TVs.

Installing Win 10 preview on this box is a piece of cake!

You should be able to do an in-place upgrade. Download the Windows 10 TP2 ISO (released a couple days ago) from here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso

Once downloaded, mount the ISO (right click mount). Run setup.exe, Accept the Terms, and select the Keep Apps and Files. That's it.

That is still the technical preview which expires in april. The consumer preview is due any day now.

            Windows free upgrade?

So does anyone know if the windows 8.1 with Bing
os will get the free upgrade to win 10? My pipo x7
is on its way, and would be great if it can get win
            10.

The Consumer Preview or TP2 was actually released a couple days ago. (http://www.computerworld.com/article...0-preview.html) It has a new version (9926) and includes the Contana (Hey Cortana is cool) and many of the new Universal Apps. I have installed it just moments ago to another laptop, and it adds some polish in a number of the new functions.

From what I am told, all Windows OS'es will get the free upgrade to Windows 10 in the first year. Delay and you'll miss the opportunity. The only question is what version will be free -- Standard, Professional, Enterprise.

I know that the announcement was wednesday but even in the post you link it says "On Wednesday, Microsoft said that the Windows 10 upgrade would appear in "the next week."

Are you saying that the download is already live because that will be the first I have read about it.

New notification center and way to project to 2nd monitor is now called "Connect"

New Start Menu layout and Xbox app -- Xbox streaming is not enabled yet -- guessing not until the Xbox sees its own Technical Preview.

Yes, download the TP ISO I linked to in the post, and the build will be the latest one just released two days ago.
