I have the same box as the original post. I want to try flashing mine with the dump but the file is no longer available.

My unit has the same problem others are having. I hit the power button and leds turn red, then off and nothing shows on TV. I never tried flashing this unit before.

Q7 box is not the same as V7, is it? Anyway, I cant flash even if I could download the above firmware. My PC will not recognise my CS918.

Just found the file in my archive. I believe this is what you guys are looking for:

I tried installing Linux on the box today, but didn't get it to work with the different images I tried... Anyone know of an SD or NAND image for the CS918 V7?

                  Hey guys, some more info:
I rooted my device with Kingoroot but somehow the device does not end up being fully rooted. I wanted to install Debkit for example which did not recognize the root.

This is a little tutorial on how to root the CS918 v7 cleanly through TWRP recovery

                  It's pretty straight forward:
                  Go to http://freaktab.com/forum/main-categ...for-rockchip-s
                  Download
                  http://adf.ly/10734525/www.freak-tab..._rk31xx_KK.img
                  and the script:
                  http://www.freak-tab.de/abdul_pt/TWR...y_installer.7z

                  1. Rename "TWRP_1024x600_rk31xx_KK.img" to "recovery.img" and drop it into the recovery folder of the script we just downloaded.
                  2. Make sure you have the Rockchip drivers installed.
                  3. Go to settings in Android and connect to PC. Your device should now connect to windows
                  4. Execute the script. You will get one error message about install-recovery not exisiting, this doesnt matter to us
                  5. Shutdown your box. Hold down the recovery button at the bottom, plug in power, wait until the light turns blue
6 you should now be in TWRP recovery
                  7. Follow this guide to install SuperSU http://androiding.how/how-to-flash-s...ndroid-device/

                    An evil necromancer is here to revive an old thread :{

Here's the reason why: I have a CS918 v7.0 2G/8G and after numerous flashing attempts it still fails to boot.

                    What I've tried so far:
                    - three 4.4 firmware sources from here and few other places for this exact board
                    - an older 4.2 firmware

In all cases the firmware write process is always successful, but the device fails to boot.
Initially it gets stuck at Android logo, but if I do the hard reset, it may get as far as "Installing apps. Please wait" screen.
When it gets this far, it either freezes at ~10%, or reboots and gets stuck at android logo again (and does not react to power button, only the reset).

Please, help me to revive this damned piece of electronics.

EDIT: The bottom label says model Q7V. The motherboard has CS918 v7_0
