    ProScan10 ROMs

To avoid fixing things that weren't broken, I've created separate ROMs for the boot and system partitions, and only made minimal changes to /system.

    • ps10-system.zip - https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B3...d5bnZNUXM/edit - This is the stock version with the addition of PlayStore, GMail, and RootChecker. It should be fully rooted; installing the SuperUser app will enhance your system's security but its not functionality.
    • ps10-boot.zip - https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B3...d5bnZNUXM/edit - This is the stock version with no mods - you probably don't need it. Be aware that GoogleDocs will try to be "helpful" and show you its contents. To download it, select File->Download from the menu at the top of the page (not from your browser's menu).

rlmiller: download both files and transfer them to an SDCard. Once you're in Recovery, use the factory-reset option, then install just the system zip. It will identify what it's doing (e.g. "formatting nandd") and will take a while when it gets to "copying files to /system". After you reboot, expect it to sit on the boot animation for several minutes. If successful, the first thing you'll see is a setup wizard for GMail. If nothing happens after 5 or more minutes, go back into Recovery, do another factory reset, then install the boot zip and retry. I really doubt your boot partition is corrupt, but who knows?

    Good luck!

Famous last words I'm using CWM and just discovered that signature verification was off. When enabled, I get the same message. I'll hunt down a different app-signer and retry. Sorry, Randall, but we'll get you fixed yet...

              • I wanted to ensure that rlmiller could get his tab going with as few complications as possible
              • your second dump was ..umm.. compromised

Your original stock ROM is fully rooted and doesn't need any 3rd-party assistance. If you didn't already have superuser access, you'd never have been able to make copies of the nand partitions (e.g. /dev/block/nandc). You may have made the same mistake that I did and run SuperOneClick - all that did for me was to break root access. I had to reflash the entire thing to get it back.

If you decide to restore your tab to a slightly-enhanced version of the original, you'll find I've included the free version of "RootChecker". It will either confirm that you have root access or that I haven't a clue. I'm not worried
I`m not sure what av you are using, But I used to use avira until it started giving false positives on Programs i had paid a lot of money for(Daz3d). It kept deleteing them. I quit using it because of that reason. Ive scanned the program I used to root the device.. its clean ..

"If at first you don't succeed, call it v1.0"

Time for v1.1... Here's the URL for the folder containing the 2 files - it shouldn't ask for a login now:

I had to try 3 different app-signers before I found one that worked. I also discovered that CWM (or at least v6.0.1.2) defaults to no signature verification every time it starts - probably not a good idea.

rlmiller: if this works, could you do us a favor? Please run the RootChecker app to see if the tablet has root access. Tnx...

The files above from dolorespark can be installed from recovery, system.zip was used, and worked great, playstore is included. If you need superuser.apk you can get it from playstore.

To answer your later question first, yes these files should be in zip format. If you had some reason for installing them, you'd put 'em on an SDCard, enter recovery then select "Install update from external storage" or whatever yours says. However, you probably don't...

This tablet was fully rooted from the factory - rlmiller confirmed that (above) by running RootChecker right after he restored the system. I didn't do anything to cause that. Using them to get PlayStore would be a waste because you'd have to wipe out everything you've already installed. Given that you have root access, there are a lot less destructive ways of getting it. If I'm not mistaken (and I certainly could be), all you have to do is put Vending.apk in /system/app and you're done - all the other files needed are included in the stock ROM.

Im not sure of where delorosparks got the files for the update.zip . I checked the files against the Rom files I had dumped from the Plt1044. The files in her update.zip are all dated 02/28/2008, The files in the zip file that I have posted are dated 10/11/2012 .. So im assuming there from a different tablet, because she stated the rom she used was rooted from the factory.

You can search XDA on how to install and use ADB to the dump file. There are plenty of step by step tutorials out there. Im assuming clockworkmod, to build the update file, which you can search and find on the playstore...
