so what you need is a dmesg from a stock Emerson?
At this point, I'm starting to wonder if the real problem lies with S.T.'s firmware update rather than the tablets. In the bootloader partition, there's a file (script.bin) that the system uses to configure itself. Among other things, it identifies two possible touchscreen controller chips and the drivers they use. The files from both the 4311 and the 543 update say they use either gt811.ko or ft5x_ts.ko. However, whoever pulled the 543 apart said that it had a Sitronix 1530 controller which uses sichuang.ko. If script.bin provides the info needed to identify a chip and load its driver, then you'll never get your touchscreen back using either my ROM or the stock ROM. If I could get a virgin copy of script.bin, I could confirm my suspicions - and maybe fix the problem.
Any volunteers?

Can you pull that from a image?
I wish I could just go buy a couple from big lots so I had a few more of these. Mine is out.
P.S. were you the person who also has the Polaroid version? If so, has this ROM given you any problems on the 4311?

Originally posted by dolorespark View PostI have to look at the original bootloader image to see if script.bin mentions the sitronix driver. The bootloader in ST's update is identical to the 4311's which is why I thought they'd be 100% compatible. In fact, even the update's name implies it's using a gt811. Embedded in the file name is "kf006" - this is the "machine name" parameter passed to the gt811 driver and appears nowhere else.
The local stores have so many Polaroids and Emersons they can't give them away. The Polaroid is down to $40 while the Emerson is $50. I plan to get an Emerson tomorrow (if no one offers a stock script.bin) and before I do anything else, I'm going to archive each partition.

Yeah I have both, the polaroid seems ok on the new rom.
I don't suppose you could buy me two polaroid units and I could Paypal you the $ plus shipping? All the stores out here have no 4.3" units at all.

Being a hardware hacker, I'd also love to see about testing the usb port for host capabilities, test usb bluetooth module compatibility, and wiring one inside. Maybe improving the battery as well.
