Besides my Samsung tv has an option to pass the Dolby stream directly to my home theatre and it says that the stream it is receiving from the android box is in fact Dolby digital.

Well thats kinda good news, that means there are manufacturers that are finally implementing this. So you have a option to switch between RAW and PCM, thats good. I guess it won't take too long that these roms are going to be made for other devices.
Hope you really have AC3 digital 5.1 sound, because with pro logic you also have sound over the rear speakers, but it's not 5.1, its made from a stereo source PCM.

When checking what sound you really have, try reading input on the reciever menu/display. Output is really not interesting.

No good the gbox midnight is an amlogic unit. Most Amlogic units have this already.

So far no replies from RK/iMito/geekbuying.

I found a store that has the turtle locally and I'm going at lunch to pick it up!! If it breaks I can return it locally instead of this crap I'm dealing with now.

I don't know about amlogic units (I'm not an expert like you guys) but I was reading in this thread that there was doubt about Android being able to send dolby through HDMI. That is why I posted the info.

In fact I have some pictures for you where you can see the audio option, the hdmi output from Gbox and my tv showing the Dolby Digital Pass through. By the way, my TV does not show this unless it is real Dolby stream from the hdmi.

This time, I am sure that the stream is AC-3 100%

No no no... don't take that the wrong way. I was pointing out that it was an Amlogic before everyone start leaping to download bits from it and try and resolve the issue.

As for Android handling audio I have found in my searches that several tablet do it. One of them is the transformer line and an Acer tablet.

On other news I didn't pick up the turtle beach usb as the place was out. I did pick up a Sebrent 8 channel unit though. I will test it tonight when I get home and see what it gives me. If it doesn't pan out then I'll take it back... nice to have gotten it locally.

USB audio seems broken on the MX1. I have found an app to try out tonight.

but plug it in and its seen. switch it over to USB audio device and play something. The sound still come through the HDMI to my TV and not from the USB audio device. Will try recording and playback VIA and app that may get it to work.

The Jynxbox I just got which is AMLogic M3 also has this RAW audio mode setting. I had no clue what it was for.

I think I am going to rip the ROM apart and see if this is a hardware driver thing or just a audio codec kind of thing. Maybe I can port it to rockchip if it is just software processing stuff.

Thanks Bob, that would be very exciting news if it could be a patch

                        That would be great Bob.

I am looking deep into this issue with the USB not working. It works on my Galaxy S2 but not on my MX2...

Tried a usb audio device - a zalman rssc with no luck under android yet. has anyone got usb audio working from a mk808. It gets recognized and under setting I now see a usb audio device as an option. But no audio out yet . I will play some with it under linux to see if I can make any progress. Under arch linux alsa sees it and aplay -l and aplay -L show the same results as other post online for usb audio devices. I haven't had a chance to play much with it or connect it to my receiver.

Same here. I ran it through the ringer and no go. I believe everything is in place, but if you noticed that no matter whether Rockchip HDMI or USB Audio is selected it always plays through HDMI. I think something is not switching over, but I have yet to find it.
