Not bad tablet, used to be listed for $202, which is a bargain! Got 4 of them, sold 3 the same day I got them! Easy to root the ICS that comes preloaded, but a Jelly Bean would make this a sweeter deal!

AM970 RK3066 tablet ROM?
I got one of these, comes with Ice Cream Sandwich and was wondering if anybody has successfully ported a Jelly Bean ROM to it? This tablet has dual 2MP cameras (front+back), 802.11n, Bluetooth, 9.7 IPS 10-point multi-touch and dual USB (OTG works on both)

open RK_paraEd.
In options on top menu select size,(Mb).
for 8gb to use 8x1024= 8192
replace 8192 into Userdata then click mouse on another field to program calculate new offset and save it.
but when to flashed It not full size to 8gb.
I edit to use 8.125x1024 = 8320 when to flashed It will full size to 8gb.
---Important---
size,(Gb)x1024 = size,(Mb)
**size(Mb) must full decimal only, no have decimal point
Idea to mod system.img by RK3xxx_tool.
when you modded to check property all size must not over 512 Mb.
If over size you must to edit parameter in system also.
I use RK3xxx_tool ver. 4.0.33 is perfect for unpack/pack

Need more help.
I need more help. I couldn't switch the parameter file without a boot loop.
Here is the ROM of my tablet, can someone PLEASE switch the parameter on it to an 8gb one, root it if it's not already rooted, and include tun.ko to get loaded upon boot? It is an "update.img" (complete image file, I tried RK tools to break it down and switch the parameter file with no success.)
Thanks!
AM970 Jelly Bean 4.1.1
TUN.KO module - need to unzip as a .ko file
EDIT: The tun.ko I can easily do after I get a working 8gb parameter ROM installed. I just am running out of space with the 1GB parameter file (on a 16GB tablet, go figure!)

OK, here you go.
I don't know much about this tablet, but I hope this works well for you:
Download
Here's what you get:
Rooted
Debloated (not really much there to remove)
Init.d/Busybox support
That tun.ko is loaded and I did insmod it in the init.rc file, so it could just work without having to run an init.d script...but the capability is there if you need it.
You have your choice of parameters from 1gb all the way up to 12gb in 1mb increments. That denotes the size of the user app space you want.
US English default
America/Chicago default location
Spoofs as a Samsung device for added Google Play Store compatibility
Reboot app by petrus
Auto Install feature added...it will automatically install apk's from your external SD "autoinstall" folder on first boot.
No custom boot animation or kernel branding on this one...I left it stock.
No custom recovery on this one, but you may be able to use a TWRP from Abdul_pt's thread:

I love it! I can actually use the tablet to it's full potential now!
There is only 2 requests and not sure if you can do them. This tablet came in 2 variants. Mine Ices Cream Sandwich (landscapee) and then newer one with Jelly Bean (portrait) so the buttons are as follow:
On mine: (in landscape mode)
Vol + Vol - Back
On the Jelly Bean: (this ROM, in portrait)
Back Vol + Vol -
And the camera on the Jelly Bean only has front camera enabled. (maybe a build.prop update to enable back camera?)
You think you can change the key mappings (is it on the boot file or the kernel file?) so it matches my landscape mode?
AWESOME WORK! LOVE IT!
Thanks!

I just have my Paypal link in my signature.
If you can come up with the portrait version of the firmware, maybe I can dig around and compare the settings...I don't usually do much keymapping...that's the benefit of having a rooted ROM to tweak around on.Randy

Thanks for the donation...it will go towards my next toy to develop....hahahaha!!!!!!
I've looked at the keymapping...I'll see what I can do.
About that camera...I'm afraid that's in the kernel...we might not be able to fix that.
So, does your tablet stay in portrait all the time...or just boot to portrait? Will it not go to landscape when you turn it? Maybe we can fix that in the build.prop.Randy
