      You can fire up my flash tool and just flash misc.img. This will cause it to reformat /data and it should boot. Or just reflash the entire thing. Either way.

      I actually never use the power button. I use the power down soft button on the status bar. This causes Android to shut down the file system properly. I only use the power button to power it back up.

        Awesome thanks Bob, i reflashed it, maybe it's the Bluetooth usb/keyboard or my storage usb that's causing the issue as the lightning bolts boot screen is still going after 5 minutes?

          Stumped now? Pulled out usb's powered down with the power button, powered back up, still boot screen with lighting bolts?

            OK try full flash and make sure to erase NAND using the tool.

            Not sure whats happening to yours. I hope NAND did not fail or something?

                Finless Bob,

                Hope your cold is better.

                Let me get right to the point. I think this ROM is absolutely *great* - especially the SuperCool intro that really brings the flavor. I like it so much that I'm willing to donate $50.00 right now to keep the intro the same (or even more flavorful) on future releases.

                Please let me know if the donate button goes to support your Finless development efforts directly. Also, if you can PM me with an email address, I also have some hardware I'd like to donate to you.

                Thank you for all of your hard work,

                Cheers,

                  Where or how can I add a patch libstagefright.so file to this rom in order to have xbmc use HW decoders. I got the file from the libstagefright project forum over at xbmc forums. Also is this file compatible with this rom. Link to lib file---->> http://db.tt/WVeMDZCh

                    Use ES File explorer and set it up for root explorer and mount system RW.
                    go check the permissions of the existing . so file in system/lib/
                    copy in the new one and set the permissions the same.
                    Done.

                      I happened to stumble in to this thread after looking for things I can do with my Neo X5. I'm not a stranger to flashing ROMs as I also have a Nexus 7 that's seen various flavors of ROMs.

                      The main thing I'm looking to accomplish is to have a version of Netflix that'll work with an IR remote. Nearly everything else on the Neo X5 is controllable by an IR remote (I mostly stay in XBMC) EXCEPT for the netflix app. To use Netflix I have to break out a mouse or trackpad just to be able to use that.

                      My question is can I use this ROM to spoof the X5 using the build.prop file to something along the lines of the Vizio Co-star?

                      Here's a video of the Co-star using Netflix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVugRx7TbRo

                      You can see that version of netflix on there is much more friendly for remote use. I *think* that the APK is the same for all flavors of android including the Google TV variants (I could be very wrong on this, but I've never found a separate netflix APK for Google TV only).

                      There also could be some sort of way to trick the netflix app itself instead of spoofing the entire device but my android knowledge doesn't go that deep.

                        Hi,
                        Bob, good job!
                        I have a question about resolution. I am connecting Neo X5 to LCD (not TV) which has resolution 1650x1050 - not 1080. So Android starts with 720 and it looks horible on the LCD (looks perfect on other LCD with 1080). Do you know how to force the kernel to use my resolution?
                        I have tried to add some parameters to CMDLINE in parameter file, but it seems it is not the right way.
                        Any idea how to hack the kernel? :-)

                          NEW - Neo X5 Finless 1.0 ROM

                          Has anyone got BBC iplayer to work on the X5? When I tried tonight I got a message if was not supported on this device.

                          It works on my Nexus 7 tablet.

                          If I need to change a build prop file so the X5 looks like a Nexus tablet, is there an easy way to do this?

                            NEW - Neo X5 Finless 1.0 ROM

                            Replying to my last message ...

                            I have been fiddling around with various things to try to get BBC iPlayer to work but no luck so far.

                            I uninstalled Flash in case that was confusing the separate BBC media player app which I understand is also based on Flash That didn't work.

                            I tried changing 2 settings in the build prop file to say I had a Nexus 7. That didn't work.

                            If I use Chrome to select a video file rather than the default browser it will try to load the video file them say it is not available on my device. The default browser will try to load the file but fail with no message. My Nexus 7 doesn't use the browser as an interface but that is apparently because iPlayer defaults to a browser if you have a screen size greater than 7.2 inches.

                            Interestingly, BBC iPlayer did work, if poorly, on my UG007 with Finless Rom 1.5 which makes me think it is a device setting causing the problem with the Minix Neo X5. I am keen to get it to work as the X5 plays Netflix and Hulu quite well.

                              It's going to be either carrier (phone) information or build.prop.

                              FYI just changing the hardware line in build.prop is not all that is needed!
                              Have a look at this link where many build.prop are shared.

                              Keys to getting good "faked" build.prop changes also requires google keys (finger print).
                              So to get a good faked device all of this needs to be changed:
                              ro.product.model=MK808
                              ro.product.brand=rk30sdk
                              ro.product.name=rk30sdk
                              ro.product.device=rk30sdk
                              ro.product.board=rk30sdk
                              ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7a
                              ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi
                              ro.product.manufacturer=rockchip
                              ro.product.locale.language=en
                              ro.product.locale.region=US
                              ro.wifi.channels=
                              ro.board.platform=rk30xx
                              # ro.build.product is obsolete; use ro.product.device
                              ro.build.product=rk30sdk
                              # Do not try to parse ro.build.description or .fingerprint
                              ro.build.description=rk30sdk-eng 4.1.1 JRO03H eng.lfwang.20121027.113430 test-keys
                              ro.build.fingerprint=rk30sdk/rk30sdk/rk30sdk:4.1.1/JRO03H/eng.lfwang.20121027.113430:eng/test-keys
                              ro.build.characteristics=tablet

                              However, WATCH OUT changing ro.product.board. It can cause you to boot loop. So in general dont change that.

                                Thanks Finless. Looks like I have a bit of work ahead of me working out which item is the problematic one. If I get a solution I will post the solution. Probably can't get to it before the weekend.
