Go to settings_sound_sound device manager_sound output devices_and check ROCKCHIP HDMI

The plot thickens.
OK, new HDMI cable arrived today. Still no sound.
Also, another new MK808 from a different supplier arrived, also no sound.
This is so weird. It looks like it actually is my TV. I have no idea where to even begin now.
Any ideas guys?Comment

Tried them both on another TV and they both work fine. Sound works perfectly.
I've been through my TV settings with a fine tooth comb and can't find anything. Besides, all other HDMI devices work fine with sound.
The output is set to Rockchip HDMI in Android settings.
Looks like I've exhausted all my options. Unless anyone has another idea?Comment

My understanding is that these TV sticks are HDMI version 1.3 so maybe your TV is too old to support it? Although the HDMI versions are suppose to be downward compatible?
But I am no HDMI expert.

I'm fairly sure my TV was made in 2008, two years after 1.3 was released.Comment

FYI, I have this unit and it works on my TV sticks with a powered USB hub.
It is only 2.1 sound but does work.
You might try something like this to get audio out.

I've already tried USB sound, it worked but was terrible quality. The hub I used was passive though.Comment

I'm seeing (and not hearing) the exact same thing on my Toshiba regza 37XV505D, so I'm assuming there's something about the way that the MK808 handles audio output that these TV's don't like. If you ever come up with a solution I'd be very glad to hear it.Comment
