4.2.2 for the MK808 & MK808B Development thread !!!

Don't rush 4.2.2 on my account, Bob. I stuck with 4.1.2 on my Nexus 7s for months after 4.2.1 (and eventually 4.2.2) came out. The 4.2 directory structure is a PITA on top of all the linking, fusing, and directory binding that takes place in 4.1.

So I kept having some wierd problem.

Every now and then after a ROM flash or a cold reboot (removing power), wifi would refuse to connect!
Then all of a sudden I could never get it to connect so I decided this time to find out why.
A dmesg quickly showed a mcc1 issues and forced shutdown and unload of the wifi driver.
It also showed some external SDcard errors right before and after this event.

Sure as hell! BUG....

If you have a external sdcard inserted then right after a ROM flash and boot up, PROBLEMS....

Remove the sdcard and reboot. Setup wifi and get connected.
Then insert the external sdcard.
If this happens after a cold boot, then you need to do the same.

So folks, we have akernel bug here with how the sdcard is managed and the wifi. I can pretty much reproduce it every time.

This just happened to me with 1.7c. Wifi wouldn't turn on until I removed sdcard. Strange.

I have finished my MK808 ROM. I am now actually trying to port this to the MK808B. On my Sunvel clone the ROM boots with the 3.0.8+ kernel but the screen is all jacked up. So they once again changed how the screen display works. I am hoping it is just the EGL, stagefright stuff but I will find out tonight.

So for you B guys check his blog, it maybe up already.

I am glad for that because I spent most the day yesterday trying to port it using a 3.0.8+ kernel with NO LUCK!

I recived it too, but I have now a new toy to play with.
The WiFi adapter that I ordered have arrived today. Trying to compile it with no luck by de moment. I found a driver compiled yet and it works at 300Mbps, more test needed with it.

How can we test internal/LAN transfer speed I have windows desktop and MK808 . how do I check transfer speed between them ? Sppedtest works for Internet as per my knowledge

There is an app called net speed. That shows graphics and instantaneous info.

4.2.2 kernel won't boot Finless 1.7

I used rk-tools to extract the kernel.img and added it to Leolas's CWM zip in order to just flash the 4.2.2 kernel from the Geek Buying update. Wiped Cache and Dalvik Cache. Result= nothing. Unplug, re-plug power and it boots back into CWM. I had already created a zip with kernel from 1.7 so I flashed that and booted up just fine.

I reckon I should have flashed boot.img as well? I will re-tool Leolas' full ROM CWM zip for just kernel and boot and try.

The 4.2.2 Kernel will NOT work with a 4.1.1 system. Trust me I have tried.

Yes, directly it will not work.

The mk808b bersion gives me a better impressions than mk808 version. I feel it more smooth, of course 1.7 Finless feels better than both 4.2.2. More bloatware inside but once it's clean..

I don't have more time today, my best friend got a baby today. But I hope tomorrow gives it a more deep watch.

My MK808 non-B is done so now that I have it scripted I will just whip up a MK808B as well.

I may have both BETA's posted tonight.


But truth be told... It's like we are starting over again from September 2012. Nothing special in it except my tweaks! 1.7 is WAY better IMHO.

Exactly why I'm not upgrading anytime soon. Even 1.6 does everything I need it to do. Kernel improvements is where the real money is at! The base is perfect with Finless's roms now. Just more engine tweaks!!

I'd like to see a Finless 4.2.2 on my mk802iiis. I know you're so busy with many devices and i don't want to give you extra work.

Side note: Did you have any free second at the end of the day?? :P

Well, my point is i want your 4.2.2 rom on my device and i want to port it, i never ported a rom so i'm pretty new to this. I think i can learn a ton if i can do this and understand it.

So 2 questions:
1) i ask you for permission to port your rom (giving credit, of course).
2) In the case my first question is affirmative, will you give me some help to do that?
