      FYI, if anyone is shy about copying files and what not or has problem making this mod, let me know and I will make you a new system.img with the transparent (fully clear) status bar.
      You can flash the system.img and it wont erase your apps but in may mess with rooted apps that put stuff in /system.

        OK Harold was right... the Notification messages are way over to one side. Not a big deal but I have fixed that.

        I will be releasing a new kit with 100% clear status bar soon with notification messages fixed.

          UPDATE Feb 28 2012!
          There was in issue in my previous kits that status bar notifications where skewed way over to the right. This is fixed. However this V3 kit only contains the 100% transparent status bar. I will work later on 30% and 50%.
          I also updated the readme as some file explorers when a file is copied from SD Card does not set the file permissions correct (execute and write) and some users were still getting a blank status bar! So read my instructions at step 11 to fix that (Daman )


          I have updated the download link to the new kit. The file name is now V3.

          See the first post with link to download the new kit.

              Enjoy it Gary.... I learned a lot about APKs, deodexing, signing, etc by doing this!

              So for me it was a great learning experience and I am happy to share it!

                If I already had version 2 installed, do I do anything special to install version 3?
                Or just follow the instructions as is?

                        To be honest I didn't really have a problem with the status bar. Until I tried the apk mod. It's way better this way now. Thanks Bob!

                          Im a tablet newb

                          Hey bob, I stumbled across this thread when searching for a solution to this darned status bar which is preventing my gf from reading ebooks on kindle app (top line missing on every page!). I am terrified to even consider rooting the tablet, nevermind ur genius solution. I see you were thinking about making an app to do all this, please do, i will gladly be the first to purchase it!
