My first APK Mod. Transparent Status Bar

I will post the 100% clear and you try it. The icons are still plenty bright as I too use a paper that is light at the top. If you still want 30% I can try.

I have to use GIMP and then make a .9.png format which is all new to me.

The reason the others were off is because after de-odexing by hand SystemUI.apk, I then used UOT kitchen to make the changes. As you can see it busted it and moved the notification message because UOT kitchen only supports phone resolutions and not tablet resolutions.

So after that issue I learned how to make the changes myself by hand! Now making 30% is a lot harder as I am not good with GIMP yet. In GIMP all I did was erase any color and left the bar image transparent. TO make 30% I have to learn in GIMP how to do a 30% shading. Not easy when your starting to use an application you have never used before!

So you will get what I have and later I can work on other levels when I get more familiar with GIMP.

UPDATE Feb 28 2012!
There was in issue in my previous kits that status bar notifications where skewed way over to the right. This is fixed. However this V3 kit only contains the 100% transparent status bar. I will work later on 30% and 50%.
I also updated the readme as some file explorers when a file is copied from SD Card does not set the file permissions correct (execute and write) and some users were still getting a blank status bar! So read my instructions at step 11 to fix that (Daman )


I have updated the download link to the new kit. The file name is now V3.

Just use go launcher ex. I only tried go theme ex. Also ADW is another option, but im like go launcher better. BOB, do u plan on make more mods such as a percentage battery or something like that?

Not so sure its a must. you can always use Battery Monitor. that has a battery percentage that shows up on the left side of the status bar, but instead of having 2 battery meters it would def be nice to have one.

ok cool. sounds good. the transparent status bar was a huge improvement to the Arnova 10 g2. makes the tablet look cleaner. even on my Evo 3d my status bar and rosie are transparent. i love transparent.

Bob, 0% Transparency Bar is a good innovation - thanks.
I use widget PureBattery for % Left; but it needs redundant Home display at same time. My ideal would allow choice in status bar of icon or %# or both.

When I tap the status bar I get the date up near the home icon, but is in white text with black background, anyway to get rid of the black background? Minor irritant but would make it the polished end product.

I did have to deodex SystemUI.apk. APK tool will not work with ODEX'ed APKs.

I will look into the black background date pop up as well as other messages. However these are not in the SystemUI.apk they are in the framework files.
