Help me identify this stick... FAKE MK809 that is NOT PC flashable!

Spawn, sorry for the delay. Your package went out today. I had a very busy week and could not get to the post office before they closed until today.

Bummer was in order to get signature confirmation they wanted registered mail and $20 bucks. So I just went with First Class mail for $8.50. They said for First Class or Priority to Canada was the same. What the hell is up with shipping stuff to Canada! I had to fill out a customs declaration
I put value as $20 which is about right after the mods I made to it

Anyway you should get it in 3-4 business days but signature is not required. I hope your neighborhood is safe.

Finally... I still have this Monopoly money! US post office will not deal with that. So next time I am at the bank I will see if they take it. If not, I am making that bill your avatar!

Hi Finless. I have the same problem with the same “MK809” fake. No connection to PC whatever I do.
Could you tell and show in clear details (PICTURE) where to solder the wires for this to be an OTG port? Alternate: The THING “can” start reboot from Ext SD-Card with a file called “update.zip”. It will not complete, but could you make an UPDATE.ZIP which could work with your 1.8 or 1.7a? It might be
even Better.
This company (DX) seems very bad. I have tried to contact them and complain, but found NO WAY. They seem to have a complain-Email on their web site "ITEM is NOT AS DESCRIBED!" but every time I write a complaint there it comes out with 500 server error. They also promise 1GB/8GB BUT ONLY deliver 0.5/5.5 See picture below.

The easy way.... Look at the picture in post 36.
The pads where no port is soldered.

The two pads I point to are the data lines for OTG port.
Cut a USB cord apart and solder the white wire to the first pad on the left I show with a red line and the green wire to the next pad to the right of the white wire.

Now plug this into your PC USB port. It wont power up.
Now hold the reset button and plug another USB cord into the rear port to power it up. It should go into flash mode and the PC should see it.

Looking at post 36. I see (on top) 4 pads you point to.
Near the bottom you point to 2 pads. I want to be sure where to solder white and green.

I have taken a closer picture. Could you be more precise? BUT... I am not sure my 70 years old eyes can solder that small. Would it be possible to make an "update.zip" for the external SD card?

It's the ones at the bottom I am talking about. This is where a micro USB port should have been added by the manufacturer.

At the bottom there are 5 pads.
Going from left to right

Pad 1 = +5v
Pad 2 = USB cord white wire (Data in)
Pad 3 = USB cord green wire (data out)
Pad 4 = no connect
Pad 5 = ground

Now personally I would only try to solder on the green and white wires. Power the stick normally through the rear USB port.

It is VERY difficult to solder those tiny pads and now one of the pads had gone away. The THING (at least) is still working. I was hoping to get it rooted and more mem by your firmware. But now I have given up. Can you still not tell me if it possible to make an “UPDATE.ZIP” with YOUR firmware. PLEASE!! Do U remember the THING you send to spawn after fixing, what size of memory it had?

Update.zip or update.img will not help you!
update = just that! An update. It cannot repartition NAND.

I am sorry but that is the facts.

If you want to send me the stick I can try to patch it like I did for Spawn. Just send me money for shipping back.

Thanks Bob. Great offer. I do not think you should take care of all our problems and it might be too expensive to mail to/from Denmark. I will try sell it in Denmark. At least it can be used for Netflix and other APPS. Or maybe, in September, I will use your nice offer when I am in San Antonio, TX. Then I can send NO monopoly money, but real $. Please Email your address just in case. How do we warn other people about this product??

I have the same stick.
can only be flashed by connecting only the otg usb cable
leave the power supply out and you will be good to go.

I don't think it's the website exactly that is the issue. I have ordered lots of things from them in the past and this was the first issue I have ever had. They deal through various suppliers, so it is the suppliers that are the issue. That being said, I received my 2 MK809II's today in the mail, and flashed them immediately with Finless 1.7a, both are working perfectly.

My wish now is that the XBMC dev's get hardware acceleration fixed and supported so my movies/tv on my NAS aren't choppy and unwatchable. Until then, it's MediaHouse Pro for me.
