4k HDMI stick or small box - prefer one with good Linux support

I'm looking to get a little stick or box with the following features:

    - HDMI 2.0 (4k @60Hz over HDMI)
    - Preferably good Linux support, specifically video decoding and hardware acceleration
    - Cheap as possible without being poorly built

I was kind of looking at the Ugoos UM3 as a possibility. I've heard there are some issues with the RK3288 chipset and am not sure if there are others I should be considering though. The Ugoos UM3 has Linux images, but I read that hardware video acceleration isn't supported yet on the Linux side. Not sure if that's been solved yet or if a solution is imminent. A lot of the smaller sticks I see have reviews complaining about overheating or poor firmware and don't seem to have any Linux support.

Anyway, what all is there that meets my criteria? Either specific models or just chipsets in general. Thanks!

I have the UT3 and it runs Linux pretty well, whether installed or booted off of SD card. No HW acceleration yet, however, word has it that sometime this month this will become possible. The time it takes to make it to us end users may take a bit longer. Ugoos seems to be actively working towards that end. They have been responsive to user's needs(Ava, Sam and others) and have turned out quite a few firmwares since I received my UT3. Both Android and Dual-boot Linux/Android as well as a bootable SD Linux.
I have no experience with the UM3, but the UT3/UT3S have cooling fans with customizable settings(turn on temp, auto, off,etc.). The UT3S should handle 4K@60, but I cannot confirm that it is so. There are differences between the UT3S 2GB/16GB and the 4GB/32GB models, such as the number of USB ports. I think the UM3 is probably a fine stick, but I see advantages to the boxes, such as, heat dissipation, USB ports, A/V out, etc.
The T-chip boards(Ugoos and Nagrace) use higher quality circuit boards and memory, than many less expensive boards, good support too. I spent more than I had planned, but after three months of shopping for an ATV box, I felt the UT3 justified it's slightly higher price. I have zero regrets.
BTW the RKRemote app turns a used or unused Android phone into a great remote, the UT3 works well with that app.
Good luck in your decision making.

Thanks. I compared the UM3 and the UT3S and they look fairly similar, save for some added RAM/storage and additional ports on the UT3S -- most notably wired ethernet. (I believe the UM3 is technically a box as well, not a stick.) The one downside I saw on the UT3S is that it's listed at supporting only HDMI 1.4, unlike the UM3 which lists HDMI 2.0. This would imply the UT3S can't run 4k @ 60Hz. Can anyone confirm whether this is the case or not?

Sounds like video acceleration should be maturing quickly on all the Ugoos boxes though, huh?

        It won't do 4k 60fps on HDMI 1.4.
