Just curious but after flashing the MK808B (original) ROM you say, frozen image still. Is that still the Google TV image you're talking about? Or does it hang at another screen now?

Well that is VERY weird because the Finless ROMs have a different boot screen. So that means it's not flashing the ROM at all!

What kind of PC are you using to flash the stick? What windows version? (32 or 64bit?) Does your PC have USB3.0 ports? And what ROMs have you tried to flash and did you all use the same flash tool for all of them?

Indeed.... I thought the Finless ROMs would still show the "Google TV" screen.

I am using Windows 8, 64bit. No, it does not have USB 3.0 ports. I have tried to flash the 1.7 ROMs that you told me about and its original (I always used the flash tool that came with the firmware). There is one thing you should know, "Reboot to flash mode" doesn't work as it was supposed to, but I had it flashed anyway.

Can you give me a link to the original? Also have you tried using the reset button to enter flashmode?

                Hi!

This is the ROM link that I used:

As for the reset button, I always have to press the reset button to enter flashmode.

About the reboot flash mode button that I was talking about, here is a screenshot of the error message:

Now I tried once again with another computer (win7, 32bit, USB 2.0). I erased the NAND and tested it on my TV, it never powered on. Not even the blue LED light. Then I flashed the device and the "Google TV" screen appeared again.

Oke, when you use the reset button on the stick it already is in flash mode. I guess that's why you get that error. But you can ignore that and you dont even have to use that reboot to flash mode button.

I though with original you ment a stock ROM, but i think you ment the MK808B original (not clone). Although you linked to the MK808 (not B).

Anyway, i guess that means you only used Finless ROM flash tool to flash.

I guess you can try 2 more things. You can try THIS ROM. It uses a different flash tool. I suggest you give the one for the MK808/MK808B 720p a try.
Or you could try to flash a CWM recovery image using Finless ROM flash tool and see if you can use the CWM recovery to flash the ROM.

Abducted, I still have hope this will start working...

So I tried that ROM with a different flash tool. Now the screen starts black.

Then I tried a CWM recovery, following these instructions: http://www.pandawillforum.com/showth...n-MK808-MK808B

But the system never informs that it found a new update.....

Still following this article, at the end .. it says:

"I still figure out the method, if you can not go to the android system in your MK808/MK808B, but you still want to flash the other rom with CWM recovery, you should do the following:

connect MK808 DC port with the charger, when you see the blue led light on mk808, then press the reset button, connect with hdmi cable, you will find your system also go to CWM Recovery."

So I followed the suggestion which brought me to this screen. But it won't come off:

hhmm oke, well at least something changed this time, i guess thats progress.

Android has to be running for the "system" to find the update.zip. So that method isn't going to work for you.

Since you linked to a ROM for the MK808 earlier (http://www.freak-tab.de/finless/mk808_finless_17c.zip) and you have a MK808B, just to be sure, did you also try the MK808B (original) ROM?

If so extract that package. Extract the CWM zip file find the recovery.img and rename it to recoveryCWM.img. Copy the recoveryCWM.img into the FinlessROM folder of the ROM package you extracted.

Put your stick in flashmode and connect it. Start Finless ROM flash tool. Behind recovery change the lne that says "FinlessROM\recovery.img" to "FinlessROM\recoveryCWM.img".

Erase NAND and try flashing it again.

After it's done it should first boot into the recovery mode. I have my sticks connected to a monitor while i flash them, so after it's done flashing it auto reboots into recovery mode. So if you dont have a monitor or TV connected and just unplug the USB cable from the PC after it's done flashing, i think the 2nd time it will try to load into android.

But if you dont have the option to connect it to a TV or monitor where you flash your stick, it should also boot into recovery mode when you press the reset button when you connect it normally to the powersupply and TV/monitor. I think it'll first start in flashmode, but after a short while when its not connected to a PC it'll boot into recovery mode. (At least my UG007-II does.)

If you get into CWM recovery let me know.

Just to be sure you downloaded this (http://files.androtab.info/rockchip/...MK808B_CWM.zip) CWM recovery image right?

EDIT: Ah cool you've updated your post and yes i guess hat's the way to get into recovery mode. And that screenshot is the stock recovery image, so it's already loading the recovery image, now we want it to load the CWM version.

                        p.s. You do have a SD-card right?

                          Hi!

I am in a similar situation. I received my MK808B a week ago and was trying to get it working since than.

I started by flashing the Finless 1.7 ROM meant for MK808B and for a day or two I was happy with my new toy and everything was looking fine. However the stick froze while I was playing around with XBMC and started producing strange errors after I rebooted it (pulled the power), all of the user settings got lost (start screen layout, wifi password, etc...), apps were not able to start and random freezes. So I have reflashed my MK808B with the same ROM but it froze within a few hours while I was installing the previous apps. And again the settings were lost after the reboot. Afterwards I have repeatedly tried to reflash with the same ROM but I got the same errors. After one freeze the device couldn't even reboot properly, it got stuck at the boot screen.

I have tried to use the Finless Jelly Bean BETA ROM with the same results. Random freezes, lost settings. Right now my MK808B is again in a state where it is stuck at the non animated Finless boot image, so I would need to flash it again.

Has anyone experienced similar issues ever? I am starting to believe that my unit is faulty, or that it is a heating issue.

So I did just like you said.

                            1) Yet, I wrote the wrong URL of the ROM. Sorry

                            2) I also kept my TV on while flashing... just to be sure that after the first reset it would enter in recovery mode. And it did!

I tried to advance a little.. and plugged a keyboard to the USB port... then I selected "wipe data / factory reset". Now instead of the "Google TV" screen.. the device is frozen on "MK 808 Finless BOB ROM".

                            3) SD-Card is available

I can feel we are getting somewhere... =)

Oke now you can flash a ROM using the CWM recovery.
Leolas made a THEAD where he made pre-made CWM zip files of all the MK808(B) Finless 1.7 ROMs.

You should get this one http://cloud.freak-tab.de/public.php...cb49fa390c88ff

Weird thing is it looks like it has flashed a finless ROM at the moment and i'm not sureiof the MK808B ROMs also say MK808 (without the B) on the bootscreen, but i think even if that is the MK808 ROM it should boot, just no WIFI or BT. But give that ROM a try.

You place the zip file on a SD-card. Boot into recovery mode, wipe data/factory reset, install zip from sd-card, choose zip from external sd-card, select the zip file and flash it.

What should I do now? I entered "Ctrl + Alt + Del" and it got back to the Recovery menu.
