    Power supply for MK908 and T428 - 5V 2A inadequate?

    Hi, all

If the 5V 2A power supply which comes with the new RK3188-driven MK908 and T428 is inadequate to run these devices reliably, can we inform the manufacturers, perhaps via geekbuying, to use a 5V 3A unit instead, to save all the time, agony and expense of future quad-core users?

    Thanks!

Power supply has nothing to do with it.
I am now testing the devices with a computer power supply 5V 9A.
The same problems, resets, overheating, no audio (MK908), etc.
As for the moment any help from the dealer.
At this moment not recommend buying.

AnTuTu resets all the time and you can not complete the test (T428), the device overheats.

This is the final nail in the coffin. I will not be purchasing this substandard piece of equipment. I will wait for something more reliable and better tested

We could use the way to submit issues to Tronsmart and Rockchip so they implement fixes in their future android releases.

Do you think this is fair ?

Every new Device has Problems, but I think Geekbuying will make pressure to the Manufacturer
              to fix this Problems.
              Please be patience.

Do you think this is fair?

I bought: 1x T428 and 2x MK908 and what you paid for it to be a beta tester?

I do not think you should be bashing Geekbuying for this!
He is not the manufacturer just a reseller! Just like you and me he can only do so much testing and if it's broke HE CANNOT FIX IT! He doesnt make the device, doesnt make the ROM, etc.....
Bashing an online seller because a product is not mature is barking up the wrong tree in my honest opinion.

Many other "selling" sites are selling this units as well. I think you should be thankful that at least Geekbuying is listening to us as other sites woud NEVER come here and respond nor would they go talk to Tronsmart and tell them the issues showing up. All geekbuying can do is stop selling these if it turns out to not be a realiable product and geekbuying wont know that until many people have them and user feedback comes in. Put yourself in a sellers shoes. You open a online shop, get a NEW PRODUCT, test what you can and decide to sell it only to find later users are having problems. How would YOU know any better as a seller?

So if you want to rant.... go on Facebook to Tronsmarts facebook page and rip them a new one for releasing a product to resellers that needs more work.

Finally I will just comment on this.
YES... just about any new China product YOU ARE A BETA TESTER! That is the risk you take buying non-Branded products from no name China companies! If you don;t want that risk then by products from major brands like LG, Panasonic, etc.... This is how it works my friends... And I think most of you know this upfront anyway!
Do any of you have some of the RK3066 TV sticks?
They ALL went through this kind of thing and still are! Go look at the MK forum for 3066.
Most of those stick came out in Sept. of last year. ALL the same issues... crappy wifi, overheating, bad power supplies, etc etc etc.... Only over time did hardware updates and ROMs improve the product.

I am not defending the China manufacturers here either. They ARE to blame... But not sellers. Thats like going into Walmart and bitching on them because a Sony product sucks....

Peteus, Eric is not scamming anyone... If anything he got scammed just as much as you did! Tronsmart is doing the scamming and should be the one to fix it. I think they knew damn well about the overheat problem too... this is why early units did not have a heatsink (like mine) and now they are adding it to newer units. Again Tronsmart did the scamming here for the overheat issue. FYI, the same thing happened on the MK808.... early units overheated until they added a heatsink! Again same China pattern.... Buy early and your testing for them!

neopmode, this is not about 'patience'.
(or are we OK to be guinea pigs for all the gadgets we buy?)

falitorek, I believe that your frustration is TOATLLY warranted.
The fact that manufacturers and their resellers are hyping
and selling this unfinished product is deplorable, IMO !

The point is, a good reputable reseller should know the manufacturer
and their products better before they subject their customers to
merchandise that is not up to snuff.

Knowing what we know now, would that be then reasonable to expect
that resellers like geekbuying and others would NOT purchase future
early releases from Tronsmart - considering what they are doing
                        to their cutomers 'now" ?

I can appreciate what Bob is saying that we should accept to a point that
some bugs need to be worked out on early releases. However if someone
is selling a TV STICK and Netflix, Hulu and YouTube does not work, the item
overheats and the power supply is not adequate - then to me it is akin
to selling a car with non-working engine,
while the manufacturer and later also the car dealer know about it !

We are not talking about some 'early bugs' that slipped through the cracks,
we are talking about pretty major shortcoming that they must've known about.

+1 to Bob post, and only 1 incision, I bought 2 Sony mobile phones, Xperia s for me and Xperia u for my wife and not for less than 100$, they was more expensive. When they release the devices they was full of bugs, and we are talking of Sony. Every New device released have problems.
I am not agree about censoring post, but I can assure that Erik try the best here.

The power supply that comes with rk3066 devices was really bad, but you can get a quality one for cheap, the devices are really a very valuable for the money they cost.
I can't tell you about rk3188 devices cause I dont have any yet, but I supose that they will be the same that rk3066 devices, in a pair of months they will be a lot of better than now thanks to people like Bob, neomode, and a lot of people who have a lot of fun improving this devices.

Give it a litte bit of time

Calm down Peteus, The development of this stuff takes a little bit of time. This stuff is supper new and pretty cutting edge, no one else is even doing it right now. When you buy the latest quad core AMP it's not going to be the perfect set top box the minute its released. Development of AMPs is already moving at nearly the speed of light compared to other electronics. There are going to be a few bugs at first. I mean look back when the MK808 first came out the Ouya was announced and now we are starting the next generation and the Ouya still has not come out yet. Would you rather have something that's 98% functional or would you rather wait a year for something that's 99% functional? If you want the tried and true buy a blu-ray player or apple TV. Sure you won't be able to do 90% of the stuff AMPs can do but they are stable. Or you can jump into something new and awesome and have the coolest smart TV in town.
Maybe failtorek just got a bad unit. I'm sure geekbuying can just exchange it for him if it is.
