And any of the other device based on the same chipset will have the kind of drm required apps (streaming apps like amazon prime, hbo go, netflix, etc.) that will have the Core.

https://wetek.com/shop/wetek-core currently has an invalid SSL certificate. Not a wise transaction until this is corrected.

Please note wetek do not support flashing of the box even in the case of original firmware corruption. Ie. They do not provide a link for stock firmware.

          Not recommended then.

While the Core is new and I don't see downloads for it yet, they have F/Ws for the Play. So is this specific to the Core? Surely if is just a matter of time.

Apparently not. What I did not know is that the wetek core is NOT open, ie the firmware is DRM protected and if corrupt may not be fixed independently but only going through customer support, ie returns

Nospamjl say the truth... you flashed a finless rom using a TWRP with no ARM TrustZone enabled in its kernel... you were told to contact the support because, at this time, a public firmware is not available, but you keep posting these things on all forums where you are registered, it's starting to be a bit annoying

Where did I lie in that post Christian? Yes, on one faulty box I tried to fix it by flashing a new recovery and on another it got corrupted all on its own. There was no previous mention that I can see that these boxes are DRM locked down and no stock ROMs downloadable.

Indeed the wetek core page says

Explore other OS like Linux, OpenELEC and other Custom ROM's and Recoveries developed by open source community and WeTek team

The products has launched 3 days ago, you should have just to wait for the customer care answer instead of trying doing on your own flashing stuff NOT for the Core, have you ever seen a device working with a single rom on a multitude of devices unless they are clones?
I don't and believe me I had roms for 8726MX, A10 and A31 where I covered almost 100 devices with just a single rom but each one of them had a "compatibility zip" because specially kernel and drivers are never the same.

                      I wonder why...

I have a Mac, and it's faulty, so i'm going to put windows and then contact apple...

                      THEY HAVE SOLVE ME THIS!!!

I read on their forum that you flashed by yourself another recovery and ROM
You should have waited for the support instead of flashing another rom!

I have to agreed with ChristianTroy

If i were wetek you should pay the costs for repair since it was you who made a new installation...

                      or did wetek forced you?

If you read the thread on wetek forums you would see the box arrived unbootable. I had two choices I should have returned the box. Instead I flashed another amlogic from which proves the firmware as arrived was corrupt. Surely the fact it arrived corrupt is not my own fault?

The second box got faulty shortly after arriving. I only flashed root to it is that my fault too?

The fact that they supply a device with no stock software is equivalent to Microsoft releasing a PC with no windows disks or links to download windows disks.

And I am still waiting on support 4 days later.

                          Yes its your fault...

If it doesnt boot you only needed to send wetek a email, and wait for their answer how they could solve it.

i pretty sure they could pick up your box re-flash it and sent to you

But for me, since you void your warranty installing another rom that's not from wetek its your fault!

Then perhaps wetek need to be upfront and remove the bit about flashing other recoveries, highlighting this is a DRM protected box and in the case of corrupt firmware even due to a faulty upgrade requires sending it back to Slovenia.

So if u accept these "warranty" terms go ahead. Otherwise if u r happy with a box with no restore option go for it.

I just wish wetek had advertised this instead of plastering the following on their we page.
