You're welcome, but let's get you there before you thank me!

No, power management is embedded in Wasser's kernel. Flashing his resource won't do it for you. But the later RKM kernels also work well with power-off apps so the 902II Beta may be ok in that respect. BUT as I recall, that beta isn't rooted. Do you have a usb keyboard or airmouse you can use in the interim to root it? If yes, then use this package to root the RKM rom after you flash it.

Download and extract the two files. Place the supersu zip file on your external sd card. Connect the device and flash the TWRP (recovery) img with android tool (uncheck everything except recovery, navigate to where you put the recovery img and flash that only). Use reboot to recovery to boot into TWRP and install the supersu zip from your sd card. That's it.

After that, you can use a root explorer to copy the remote conf file that you took from Wasser's rom to System/Etc.

Some firmware makes all your system memory available for apps (unified storage) which can be very convenient.

You can change how much space your firmware allocates for installing apps with a "parameter" file that you flash along with other elements of the firmware. This can even be done post-facto - i.e. after you've installed the firmware itself.

        Hi there
could you pls explain how to flash parameter only. I installed 5.1 and its all excellent except memory allocation which I realized after re-installing the most of my apps.

You can try flashing these two files only - bootloader and parameter - with Android Tool. I've put them here. Uncheck everything else, leave only those two entries checked, navigate to where you put them and then flash.

If that doesn't work (it may or may not), then you may have to reflash the entire rom, substituting this parameter file for the factory one. In that second case, use the 5.1.1 rom linked in my earlier post no. 88 which contains the modified parameter file.

downunder, since you're in a thread under "Other Rk3288 devices", I assume that you're running 5.1 on a V5. If that is so, flashing Neomode's very competent rom will do nicely - except that you won't be able to shut down your device, only suspend it. That key function is missing. That's the trouble with frivolous advice -it's not based on direct experience with the device in question.

You'd be OK with option 2. I use it myself. Neomode is another good ROM minus power off. But let's hope the modifier works for you.

What firmware are you currently on? There may be a conflict between your kernel and TWRP since it usually works without problems.

Try reformatting your SD card. TWRP is sensitive to how cards are partitioned. Use SD Formatter to do that.

NOT rooted but easy to root with TWRP/SuperSU.zip

Another cool runner, which is my focus for these sticks.

                          Hi,
Just wanted to ask, what is the recommended ROM for MK903V 16GB, V-Cloud or V-Fly ?

                          Comment

Of those two, I'd try the V-Cloud, which is more up-to-date. Just root it afterwards.

Or try Neomode's source rom, which works very well on the 903V, minus the ability to shutdown completely. That rom has a useful suspend function which puts the device to sleep and let's you wake it with your remote.

                              1. Is there an option to shutdown the system in V-Cloud?
                              2. Is Neomode suspend actually suspend the device or just turn OFF the signal to the television?
                              3. Will Neomode rom wakeup on USB keyboard press or I need to use device dedicated remote control?
                              4. Is it easy to switch between V-Cloud and Neomode or the opposite?
                              5. I read in this forum that you change partitions sizes (you enlarge the applications partition), so should it be a problem to flash roms which work with different partitions sizes? for example, If i have flashed Neomode with 2GB apps partition size and I want to flash V-Cloud with 4GB apps partition size, do I need to do some extra steps?

                              Thanks.

                                1. Yes
                                2. Good question: probably just turns off screen but device doesn't get warm in standby.
                                3. Not sure. Think it might work with keyboard
                                4. Yes - if you know how to flash roms with Android Tool.
                                5. Use the parameter file that comes with the rom and you should be ok. Do a 'lower' format before flashing.
