Hi guys I am looking for some advice and information hopefully somebody can help me, I have bought an Amlogic MXQ M10 S812 Metal TV Box and I am looking for advice on how to root the box and if possible the files needed to do so. I am also looking for links to original firmware and/or custom roms. I have searched and searched Google and can find nothing, I have asked the seller of **** who thinks it upgrades of Google play store lol. Im sorry if I have placed the topic in the wrong place or created a duplicate topic, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.Tags: None

all I can find is the instructions for the m8s device, and was wondering if it would work or it would brick the device.
thanks
sorry i dont know whether the m8s software would run on this, it has the same s812 chip and possibly the same wifi chip but you would loose the clock on the front of the box, imo too risky.

I do the same it's no big deal but I hate being beaten lol have tried editing the build.prop but no luck. Did you notice any difference in the new Rom you installed and could you tell me where you downloaded it from. Hopefully somebody like Mediaman will do a custom Rom one of these days, I have his Rom on an M8 S802 box which is fantastic, we can but hope lol 👍

The only difference I noticed with the ROM is the root. Same kernel version and the build date was a few days after my previous build date.
I emailed the Chinese company that sold it to me and they sent me the ROM. I tried asking other companies that sell the M10 and they would all just ask me where I bought it and then reply with their version may not work with mine and refuse to send their ROM to me.
The playstore issue is a little annoying but I live with it. I hate that there is no way to change the led clock to 12 hour and it's always 24 hour. Also to me it seems that if the box is on for awhile without a reboot the clock display falls out of sync and a few minutes behind. I also don't like that in order to reboot the box you have to pull the power plug. So I've installed a app that requires root that gives a boot menu to pick from. So now I can reboot without pulling the plug.
These are all things I noticed with the old rom. I guess I'll keep an eye on the time falling out of sync but I assume it'll remain and issue. I also hate that the clock goes off when the box is powered down into suspend/hibernation.
Are these issues present with yours?

I too have exactly the same issues, i suspect all suppliers are using same rom but modifying build.prop to give the illusion of a newer rom i guess we will have grin and bare it until a new custom rom turns up. Apart from these small issues they are a great box.
