Any tests or comparison's with these devices take it for what it is and what it can do,
Basic test are OK with a grain of salt, there's always variables, from the time of day to when the planets align.
Have to jump in somewhere if you have this interest.

In the pursuit of something(happiness)that can do it all for a minimum price and rocks I guess

The margins seem small when you do look at the comparisons with only the turbo clock and support for dual channel memory being of real advantage to the Z8500,

The real potential advantage of the Z8500 is in the support for more RAM.

But with the price differential between the two being only $5, the arrival of 4Gb RAM models is where I expect the real margin to be seen with little in real price difference.

Don't forget the third display is always handy
Like the Magicstick I recall it has a an 8 GB model using the Z8700 and pay for it also (NUC territory)
Just slightly faster than the Z8500

One thing these specs don't show is that z8700 GPU has 16 execution units, whereas the z8500 has 12 EU's, the same as z8300

Would that make any real time noticeable difference considering the CPU is low powered ? more variables to ponder

The Execution Unit is the foundational building block of Intel’s graphics architecture.
Execution Units are compute processors optimized for simultaneous Multi-Threading for high throughput compute power.

The only real benchmarks that we have so far for the X8700 is with the Microsoft Surface tablets but they also have far greater components to go with the SOC.

There is no doubt that it will be faster and may be of greater use for GPU intensive applications but whether, going by the price of the Magicstick, it will be worth the probable price difference at the market end of things will be interesting to follow.

The introduction of more bottom end Skylake products into NUC's may also show a gradual closing of the gap between the two kinds of devices.

Now InFocus is updating the lineup with the Kangaroo Mobile Desktop Pro. The computer itself is virtually identical to the original model.
ut the Kangaroo Pro comes with a new Pro Dock that offers more options for connecting storage, displays, and networks.
