I may be overly optimistic, but I feel capable and willing. But I also need instructions.

    Pointers, please?

EDIT: I *might* have it. I'll report back later...

I'm very interested in this rom flashable via CWM, as normal recovery (with paperclip) seems not to work.
Hope you manage to build one.

          Hmm...

I built, tested, and uploaded all three ROMS that Lewy created for our X5. But damned if I can find them!
Unless Lewy has any objections, I'll try to upload them again tonight...

Would be great! Where could I find them?

Go here http://d-h.st/ and search for "neox5" You should see all three ROMs.

Install them with this version of CWM: http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/rockchip/rk3066/

If they work for you, be sure to thank Lewy. Those are his ROMs.

                  Thanx Stephen.
I downloaded via link "MiniX Neo X5" the file named "NEOX5_CWM.zip".
This zip file is only 6mB, looks a little small. Or is this just the kernel? Can I simple switch this with the one I have now? And will the rest be working as it does now?
I was very interested in Hybryd rom, as there was very positive feedback from those who installed it. I hoped it would solve my search for a decent working xbmc. But now I have got xbmc very nice working with finless 1.2b (via CWM), so not sure to flash all again. I have to use CWM because my damn X5 just won't boot in stock recovery mode (with paperclip procedure).
                  Thanx so far.

Nope. That's only CWM. Lewy's ROMs are in the first link and will look like this:

                    NeoX5_MinixHFW_2.2.3_720p_CWM.zip
                    NeoX5_MinixHFW_2.2.3_1080p_CWM.zip
                    NeoX5_MinixHFW_2.2.4_720p_CWM.zip

                    Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2230186

                      Did not read well.
                      Missed your first line !

Downloaded 2.2.4, because I need latest libstagefright file.

I am not sure I will install, just read that the original latest x5 firmware has a memory leak?!
Is this solved with hybryd 2.2.4?

                      thanx very much

I had heard of a memory leak. From a programmer's perspective, they can be a monstrous nightmare to resolve.

I can't say if 2.2.4 resolved it or not, but I wouldn't let it dissuade me.

Well, updated yesterday, or at least tried. My x5 hangs now in hybryd startup/boot screen. Tried to startup several times.
I don't know what to do now, as the stock recovery (with paperclip action) does not seems to work (as it didn't also before).
Before I installed hybryd, I made a backup then cleaned, swiped everything via CWM tool.
Do you have any suggestions how to solve all this?
I read somewhere to recover into CWM using otg port with usb stick with CWM update.zip on it, but do not know if that will work.
                          thanx.

                            Try this: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...eo-X5-with-CWM

Which ROM did you try, and which version of CWM did you use?

Doesn't work for me, I followed exactly what you described in the link. Tried 2.2.4, I do not exactly know which CWM I was on, but I installed finless 1.2b with it.
My problem with normal recovery is that the rkbatchtool does not recognize my rk30 device (I'm on W7 64 bit), while W7 does.

Can you boot in cwm? pressing the reset button and maintain it while you power on the device.
If you can do that, flash again, and after flash wipe data&cache, and in advanced wipe dalvick cache. Then restart.
