OTT M8S won't enter recovery mode??

    Greetings,
Got a OTT M8S tv box that I wish to put Openelec on . I have done this with many M8 M8N and M8S boxes but this particular one does not seem to enter recovery mode with either quickboot utility or the toothpick method. When I press the button at the bottom of the AV port it says "Rebooting..." in the yellow font at the bottom left of the screen and that's it - just reboots and either I hold the button and it keeps rebooting or I let go of the button and it loads android again.

Update. I thought maybe it was bad firmware causing it to reboot instead of enter recovery mode. So I hooked it up to usb burning tool and successfully flashed another firmware onto it. Everything was working fine there so I tried to enter recovery mode again so I can flash openelec onto it. But same result just reboots.

Can I flash openelec onto it with usb burning tool since it seems to work?

Not yet. I have only ever done it to other machines using the SD card method. I only just used USB burn tool to put another android firmware on so far. I am not sure which file to use as the .img to flash or if I am supposed to make an image file myself out of the three files that I would normally put on the SD card

Tried TWRP recovery. I put the SD card in and told it where the zip was (path to sd card) and selected flash now. It asks if I want to reboot and complete the operation. I select yes, it reboots and hangs at the logo screen just as if I had done the toothpick method.

You mentioned openelec with usb burn tool. How do I do this? I have used the burn tool for android firmware only

I'm hoping someone can answer. I have 16 of these M8S boxes sitting here all not entering recovery mode. Every other M8S I ever worked with I was able to flash from SD no problem.

I've got a similar box has "v4" on back and "M8 V8_8" on PCB. I too can't get recovery to come up, and even tried TWRP without success. What version of TWRP did you use to get into TWRP recovery via SD card? This is my first M8s, but it sounds like this version is exceptionally hard to get into recovery.

Its amlogic customization tool and it makes .img file from ''three'' files from custom roms.
