HPH NT-V8 ROM V1.2 (Dual-Boot) by mo123
Collapse

New Android-Only v1.2 ROM for users that don't want dual-boot.
Also root was completely removed - testing needed for streaming apps that complain about root even if ROMS are unrooted.
Can try to root again with this then might need to update supersu app again.
Can also use this app on eg. Dual-boot after rooting from 'Accessibility Options' to try to hide root, if it is still not working also try Root Cloak from the Play Store.
Most of the Root Hiding apps only work if already fully rooted.
If still not successful look for your streaming app, maybe there is a mod available on xda forum or someone willing to decompile a 'troublesome' app to remove root check.

Is this ok for you ?
hopefully it will boot with geekbox linux kernel e.g. ramfs.img ?
does user "hph" has sudo rights to get root access on linux ?
Thanks
You can use the rootfs only for a Geekbox ROM.
It is 32-bit so maybe when Mac_L1 get Kodi working on 64-bit, I will try to do a 64-bit version again.
It is full Lubuntu rfs.
User 'hph' should have root permission I think.
You will need to change the ramfs as it uses different wifi than the Geekbox.
Just give full recognition in the Geekbox forum if you use the same Windows skin and layout.

Thanks !
the geekbox kernel is already 64bit. Yes, still old 3.10 kernel.
I have published plenty of rootfs.img for 32/64 bit (armhf/arm64) in the geekbox forum.
Pls use them if you like ..All are booting fine on geekbox.
You can build 64bit today and integrate Mackodi later on.
Will try my own ramfs.img first, with integrated geekbox drivers.
MacL is working on 16.04 Mate 64bit release to get maclhybris/mackodi running ..

We all are waiting
Cheers
EDIT:
Here you are ..
Thanks a lot .. Really nice work from you !

Hi mo123
It has been a while that I have run the HPH NT-V8. I have been working on NexBOX Z68's scaled down firmware and must say it is running really well. (I did not want speed out the device, rather stability and my latest firmware dump gave me just that.) So now I am about to start working on the HPH.
Please can I ask you, the LAUNCHER, is there a way to go directly into a program when you click on a tile? It pops up a sub-menu (i.e. KODI), so it means that if I want to start KODI, I have to click the tile and then click KODI... (Too many clicks)
The second question I have about the LAUNCHER, is there a way that I can change the MAIN TILES?kind regards

Have to use the IR Remote buttons.
It might be possible to launch apps directly from the big tiles, but the launcher was designed for sub-menus.
They are working on a different launcher also, so it might be ready in a few weeks or sooner.
You can also install 'Home 2 Shortcut' app from Google Play store, when you double press the Home button it can launch your favorite app like Kodi and when you press Home once then it takes you back to the launcher, quite handy.

Remember to also test LeHome Remote Control in Android Settings.
Can also use Happycast for mirroring support - http://www.hpplay.com.cn/index.php
