I assume that the Mali-T820 is more powerful that the Mali-T450 (used in many of the current media boxes). I had heard rumors that it would be the Mali-T830, but, for my purposes, I don't care about the 3D gaming capability of that 830 GPU. This S912 certainly seems to be a significant step up from the S802-H in my current box or even the S905 in the Minix Neo U1. I'd never heard of the "Inphic" media box. I just hope that Minix doesn't drag their heels implementing this chip. Question: What is the RAM capacity of this chip? More than 2GB?
          2GB DDR3/4

Thanks! I'm a little surprised by that. I thought that such a significant advance from the S812 (or even the S905) would also enable more RAM. For example, the Nvidia Shield box (using the NVIDIA® Tegra® X1 processor) is 3GB RAM.

BTW, I don't know what "DDR3/4" means. Is that better than the "DDR3/3L" of the S812?

Exactly, this and at least USB 3.0 was to be expected, so this all sounds a little bit boring.
I don't care about games, but HDMI 2.0 will become more important in the future.
Atm, I don't see any serious reason, to upgrade my perfectly working Minix Neo X8-H Plus.
Android 6.0 is good, but other than on a Smartphone, it's not too important on a St Box.
I will probably wait for the next generation.

I did not expect more than 2GB RAM. But I would like that USB3.0 at least. Anyway, it is early yet to talk about S912. We are starting with S905X now...

Would just like DRM and pass through thats one thing shield did well. Having video work with all the codex is another plus. If hardware can be supported in linux would be another plus just my wish list lol.
Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

That's fine. Just to ask you quickly, is there a generic TWRP for Amlogic devices with the same processor, ram and OS version? Or will there be a different way of installing it on each box ?

I am not well versed on TWRP, others here know much more. If I see something I will chime back in.
I don't want to hijack this thread, these discussions would be better posted in the S905 section.
                            Cheers.

It seems to be a good hardware but when H265 codec evolves and it will eventually move from Main Profile to H265 High Profile like happened with H264 in the past.
It is almost certain to take advantages from the H265 10 Bit High Profile we will have to buy a new box or should this Amlogic S912 handle it ?
