    CX-919 4.1.1 - Finless ROM 1.4

Hey folks.... My first ROM for the CX-919. Seems my timing is a little off as the new 4.2.2 ROM just came out. NO worries though I will do a 4.2.2 ROM right away!

I have to say this 4.1.1 ROM was pretty nice to begin with. But here is my ROM should some of you want to use JB 4.1.1

Do you guys like the built in Launcher? I personally do not. Let me know if you do. But I give you a choice in this ROM anyway

    Bob

Features and release notes for my 1.4 Android 4.1.1 ROM:

    1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

    2) I give you APP space size choices!
There are also 2gb, 4gb and 6gb parameter file options.
Read below for how to change that in the flash tool.
Realize if you use this 6gb option, internal SDcard will only have about 600 megs of free space!

    2) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

    3) I enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu. Tested and working with all APPs that use it. Remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

    4) Gameloft fix. This fixes Gameloft games from crashing to the desktop.
Many of them do not run and crash to the desktop. This is due to a license check based on the device.
Special thanks to Christian Troy for inventing this fix. I modded it for this ROM.

    5) I added Freaktab user Tincore's Key Mapper APP version 2.3.6 (which is recent release)!
This is a cool APP for you gamers that need to map keys or sticks to "touch" only games or APPs.
This thing works better than any other APP for supporting games especially ones that need touch screen support!
    Learn more about it here:

    6) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device not a CX-919 or RKSDK!
    Understand this please.
I also left the original buiild.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
    Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a CX-919.

    7) Alternate launcher! Do you hate the stock launcher? Well I give you a way to change it.
After boot up go get a root file explorer like ES File Explorer.
In ES turn on root explorer and REMEMBER to also set system as RW (read/write).
Go into /system/app and rename launcher3.aps to launcher3.apk
    Rename launcher2.apk to launcher2.aps
Reboot! If you try to exit to the launcher you will get errors or a black screen so just reboot using the power button on the status bar.
Now you will boot into the stock Android Launcher instead of the modded launcher they provided.
You may also delete launcher2.apk if you like to remove it forever.

    8) Updated boot sound! I hope you like it over the stock sound?
If you do not want any boot sound at all then this is easy to remove:
After boot up go get a root file explorer like ES File Explorer.
In ES turn on root explorer and REMEMBER to also set system as RW (read/write).
go into /system/media and just delete bootsound.mp3.
You can also add your own MP3 as a boot sound if you like.

    9) Remote Control using RK Remote APP is now fully supported!
In the ROM kit is a RKRemoteControl.apk.
You install this on your phone or tablet and now it can remotely control your TV player!
Just put the APK on sdcard or something and install it on your Android phone, tablet, etc.
ENJOY this one! I had a HARD TIME getting it to work!

    10) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

    11) It appears Xpad.ko is in the kernel already for Xbox controller support.
However since I do not have a xbox controller I cannot test or confirm this.
Please let me know if it works.

For more information ALWAYS read the README in the ROM kit!

        Nice

I'm in the same boat because I just finished a review of the CX-919. I really liked the original 4.1.1 ROM because it was so snappy and had crisp looking icons. I'm actually kind of glad you released the 4.1.1 ROM instead. I really liked the original build this one was based on. Plus I really needed the app partition re-size option.

        Here's my video http://youtu.be/Ha-MsNdxScw
(it should be done uploading in three hours)

        Thanks again Bob

          Hey all

          First time poster
Have been browing the forum for about a month now. Just got my cx-919 couple of days ago, first android I've owned. Bob thanks for your hard work when do you get time for everything?? Are still into your helis?

Anyway I think I have a problem trying to format the stick before installing your rom. When I try to format it only gets upto 2044 where your instructions say it should be 2048, I've try about 6 times now. Is there a way to check it has worked? Can I stuff up my stick if its not done properly?

Can I reflash using geekbuying rom and app??

          Sorry for the newbie questions

          Thanks
          Brendan

Don't worry about 2044.... Sometimes the tool just doesn't show the end. The point of that message is that it counts up. If it stops right away or only makes it to like 1000, then it's a problem.

Also guys, the tincore key mapper tool just got updated to 2.3.8 so make sure you upgrade it from Google Play.

So....I installed this ROM as per the very comprehensive instructions.

The rom is great. So far everything works fine and fast. The only thing that I think I noticed, is some mild stuttering when playing videos, but I am not sure. Even if it is there and not just my impression, this could possibly be due to the fact that I restored my video players from my Titanium back of the previous device, which was RK3066 based. Maybe the libraries are different for RK3188 when you download from the market, So I will just uninstall and reinstall them from market. I have seen some problems when restoring apps from different hardware, especially in games.

Other than that, the CX 919 is faster than my LG 4X, making it my fastest Android device, which is quite funny if you think about it, since it costs only 60 euros. It scored around 5500 in Quadrant and 15300 in Antutu.

I did not try the included power supply/charger and directly used this aftermarket one,
http://dx.com/p/dual-usb-ac-power-ad...10-240v-183119 which I have come to trust.

The device did not freeze once. Very stable throughout. I even played some Riptide GP, while applications were installing, so to put some extra load on the device.

I gladly found out that the core clock jumps to 1.6Ghz very often, so it does not throttle so much or at all. The RK3166 on my tablet rarely hits 1.6Ghz, not to speak about my MK 806 mini PC which is stuck at 1Ghz, but this was probably due to the rom I used not being so compatible.

Well that's it for now. I would jump on a RK3188 tablet with no second thought, if I was not waiting for the chinese Exynos dual core based ones.

                        Downgraded to 4.1.1 from 4.2.2

Wifi definitely works best running this ROM, I'm getting 11mb/sec where I was getting 6mb/sec with 4.2.2. I have XBMC 13 installed and it works. Going to stick to this one till something better comes out.

Incredible! I had installed the 4.1 version and the same thing happened, black screen, and then you said that, I installed version 4.2 and it worked!
                            Thank you!

Note: I use HDMI to DVI converter, because I'm testing on a computer monitor.

The original ROM occurred black screen too.

                              font is blurry under 720p?

                              Hi there,

I flashed this back from 4.2.2. I like the 720p resolution. 4.2.2 only let me use 720x480 on my lapdock 100.
However the font is blurry under 4.1.1 720p. Any idea how to get it better?

                              Thanks!
