    Help with ott tv box

Hi, new to all of this. Hope I'm putting this in the right place. Anyway Would like to see if I can get some help with my ott tv box. As I stated I have a m8 ott tv box. The back of the box says m8 android tv box with android 4.4 OS. I had this for about 10 months or longer. Everything was pre installed on the box. It worked great for about 7 months. Then it started glitching like freezing up every so often, then lately I can seem to go to system menu or menu to add addon. My question is is their anyway for me to rest box and reinstall kodi for it to be more stable and to get rid of these glitches. If so, really not sure what to install for I'm really confused of what to download per my box. Any help would be great.

Yes the most simple is to do factory re set from the settings on device. Or do as shown here. https://youtu.be/EAJtEXJbvd4
Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

Just re install your google account and you can re install kodi from there.

I want to thank you for replying to my post. Can you help me by telling me what firmware i need to reflash this and what kodi app I need. I see where people has bricked these things when they put wrong firmware and or kodi app.

        Thanks in advance

You asked about factory re setting. Thats the safest route. You would need to back up your firmware and then search forum for the right rom. Two main types round and square in amilogic thread. But different wifi and blue tooth used by various manufactures so unless your sure of maker its a crap shoot.

Thanks for responding to my post again.. The one I have looks like the one in the video you provided for me...also how do you back up the firmware..and is the firmware/kodi corrupt why it's glitching. If so, that's why I was asking about kodi and the firmware. Is there a way to tell what specific box I have.

            Thanks in advance

I ve flashed this rom on my ott m8 and works very well you have some reading to do before you consider this way. If your device was working fine and just kodi started to lag and slow down i recommend u just to the factory reset and then its back to the way you had it 10 months ago 😁

I want to thank you so much for your help. I only thing concerning me about doing a factory reset is I did not back what was on the box when I got it. When I do a factory reset will I loose all kodi, apps, and all the adding that was put on. If so, that's why I was asking how to redo whole thing. Mean wipe everything clean, reinstall everything again then I will have everything saved..

I would like to save what I got on box, but I would think everything is corrupt why kodi is not working properly. Or am I wrong about that?

If its google apps those are already saved in your profile on google just click the 3 bars at top and go to your apps and everything you ever installed under that profile is there. If you list the other apps i am sure if they are streaming apps i have a link to them. Im me and i can even get you link to installing custom kodi builds after youve reset. Flashing the device is another whole issue and yes thier are dangers and if you dont have the original firmware can be problems for you as well as learning curve for flashing tools and re setting. Again your call. (Thats why devs put the if you brick your device Not my problem on thier releases. )😁

Ok, I guess if you can tell me my options.

                      - I don't have original firmware
                      - I don't have box backed up
                      - I don't have google account
                      - cant go into setting in kodi (black screen)
                      - cant add and remove add-on (black screen)

                      Ok, can I do this:

                      - factory reset and will everything still be on box (AGAIN IF DO THIS WILL I STILL HAVE EVERYTHING) even though I don't have anything that I mentioned above.

                      Thanks

I am sorry if I'm asking some of the same question, but not sure if I'm asking the question right. So I apologize for this. Anyway, even though kodi is not working properly can I still get the original firmware off the box and save to an ad card or whatever I can or is the original firmware corrupt too.

Or, what you mention above is how I can get the original firmware.

                        Thanks

I wouldnt know if it is corrupted or not but if you do the factory reset your device will be set to same as when you got it 10 months ago. You stated it just started acting up. If it runs fine after the factory reset then you can think of backing it up. You just may have crap left over on device and that gives you a clear picture of device preformance.

Ok, factory reset won't loose what's on the box it just resets the box. Is that correct.

                            Thanks

No just make sure you know your user name and password for your google account. All added apks will be removed including kodi. If your worried about a particular apk let me know what its called. It just cleansvthe box and resets it to factory setting (wifi and network set to orignal setting that means youll have to re enter your passwords ect)
