How to get M8s+ firmware running on M8s

Hi all long time lurker here

I have a V8_8 M8s which i have bricked about a million times now and thanks to this site can flash the stage 1 image file pretty quickly to get it back up and running

One thing i do struggle with is I cannot for the life of me get an M8s+ firmware running on my box

The firmwares do install via TWRP but hang on the M8s+ boot logo

My method to install is delete the first two lines in the updater script and copy the bootloader from the stage two file (bcm 4335) to the new firmware

How are you guys getting these firmwares to work?

I have tried to burn a 5.1 image via burning tool but it always fails on 2% (version 2.0.59)

I have got the latest M8s firmware running on my box http://chinagadgetsreviews.com/downl...-tv-box-3.html

But i really would like to check out 5.1 for some apps and what not

Interesting, I got the exact same box as you, I always wanted to get Lollipop on it but also never found a way.
Didn't know there was a new Rom for the v8_8, have you noticed any changes or improvements over the last Stock Rom??

    Thanks mate.

Also. Are you getting 1080p in Youtube.?? Iv'e never been able to get 1080 in that damn Youtube app, Iv'e tried everything.

Hi no i have not really noticed any major changes but it seems a bit smoother (placebo effect?)

It is doing my nut in trying to get a lollipop rom on it

Youtube vids do play in 1080 as far as i can tell

Update: with latest rom CPUZ and KODI reporting only 782mb ram

Hmm I just tried to install the rom but I get

This package is for N200c devices this is a k200 error in twrp.?

Edit: I think I may just stay where I am for the time being and not tempt fate.

Yes that's why you delete the first two lines of the updater script

What firmware build are you on?

I was on bcm4335-ota-20151013 but since I was getting that error trying to install your Rom I updated to bcm4335-ota-20151029 instead which worked fine. I'm still having issues with the Youtube app being locked to 720p max but at least its an update from what I was on

Thing is i have just installed this firmware which is n200c: http://chinagadgetsreviews.com/downl...-tv-box-2.html

Now do we need a base to work off for 5.1 ie a system image that works

We know n200c firmwares will work with some modification so why do the 5.1 firmwares not get past the boot?

              Was there ever a k200 5.1 firmware/image file released?

Btw with this firmware its now showing 1828mb ram

Hi i have tried not that exact rom because his link is dead but the one linked in chinagadjetreviews - the img file wont go past 2%

The zip file just hangs on the boot logo

Its a tad annoying to say the least

its ok i am downloading the link you gave will report back but not hopeful

Its obvious what's happening I am trying to patch 4.4.2 with 5.1

An image file is needed or bootcard method might work

That's why it hangs at boot there is no OS installed

I am doing this wrong (I think :/ trying to learn as I go)

                            good news

i have flashed my M8s (n200c with AP6330 WIFI Module PCB: CS 812M8 v1.3) with the M8S+ Lollipop 5.1.1 image.
my box runs well with this image but without ethernet.
i am still working on it. if you like to try do it and support my work with your advices.

you need wireless maus or keyboard
you need USB_Burning_Tool to flash the FW

This firmware for Matricom G-Box Q can be used on AP6330 S812 M8S & S802 M8N, remote and ethernet works just fine. Install via TWRP.
