Gerry have a look in the Polaroid support forum pmid710. Some guys there got it to work before getting rooted. It might help.

Ooopos sorry, I saw them jumping for joy and figured it was Gplay.
Also maybe look at my patch kit in my ROM forum. It is script based and updated market files since the last ones I sent you. You would have to edit the script (CSV) file to change the install location from /system/app to /data/app.
Might try playing with that.
