I thought I would provide an alternate download link for the new aml_upgrade_package_0519.img firmware just in case the one provided disappears.

    aml_upgrade_package_0519.img
    Download: https://mega.nz/#!RlkEkQ6D!qOGF6qpjm...ZyC03YdccOEiBs
    Original Source: http://freaktab.com/forum/advertiser...mware-download

I myself choose to stick with the original firmware, aml_upgrade_package0429.img.

Thanks again zippy611. Would be nice to hear more comments regarding the upgrade package from folks who have flashed it. Doesn't sound so far like it is an upgrade at all.

Whoops, you are exactly right, I uploaded the wrong file. The correct recovery.img is a larger file than TWRP. Here is the correct recovery.img for aml_upgrade_package0429.img original firmware created with Rashr. I also corrected my previous post to have the correct link and removed the incorrect file from the server.

It is what Rashr gave me when I had it make a backup of my recovery.

Maybe the thread should be renamed?
Gearbest is not the manufacturer or the firmware developer of the box.
Also lots of other companies are selling the same box.

Threads name is just Mxq pro plus rom issues? I gave the link to Lin so he could send to manufacture. But from emails to them and lack of any responce looks like its a lost cause. Unsupported Device.
Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

Hey guys! This is my first post. I bricked my MXQ PRO+ 4K ... it all started with Kodi not working, i wanted to uninstall and reinstall it, but then playstore didn't work. So i decided to do a firmware update, and ofcourse OTA didn't work. So i put the fw on an SD and it started updating and after a little while the screen turned black and now i have no hdmi. I now realize i flashed the MXQ PRO 4K, without the PLUS. Yeah.. stupid mistake, but i can't get to recovery. Holding the reset and plugging it in does nothing. I tried zippy611's method but Burning tool 2.0.7 doesn't see the device. I opend the case and checked the reset button and it's working (using ohm meter). Any ideas? I want to short the nand but i'm not sure what pins to use. ANy help appreciated. Thanks!

Same problem here. I tried pin 29 and 30 (mxq pro) but it doesn't work. Maybe someone will find out which one are the right ones. Or maybe a bootable sd (does the bootcard maker work for s905?)

Hi All. I downloaded and tried the new firmware link from GearBest - aml_upgrade_package_0519.img. Used zippy611 recovery method to install. Got exact same errors during process. but it did finsh successfully. Device Model now shows as MXQ pro+ and build is now "p201-userdebug 5.1.1 LMY47V 20160511 test-keys". HOWEVER, does not resolve the Device not compatible error in Google Play. And the minix_u1_ez_root, no longer works to root the device. I purchased 2x MINIX NEO U1's that worked flawlessly out of the box with everything. Kodi, Google Play etc. Bought them before I learned about GearBest and thought I had gotten a raw deal from local supplier as "same" hardware as MINIX Neo is supposedly on the MXQ Pro+ at fraction of price + slow-boat-from-China shipping-wait time. Well I guess you get what you paid for. the hours and hours I have spent futzing around with this piece of crap, I could have been happily streaming/gaming - instead of reading up on chats/blogs on how to do recovery and rooting on AndroidTV. From What I can see from the other forums on this sight any box less than $200 that GearBest sells is pipe dream and one way ticket to premier show starring yourself the miserable storyline of "how can I make this thing work as advertised" Funny thing is NCIX, where I bought the NEO U1 has them for $180CDN (including Air Mouse with local pickup ) So about $20 cheaper + no wait and if you take Duty/import fees into consideration (I got hit with them on all my Gearbest orders). $50 cheaper. If GearBest was operating in North America they would have been shut down for continuing to sell outright faulty merchandise. Kicking this turd to the curb. Good luck.
