Ok another weird thing. I have been doing all this with Wi-Fi disabled and using Wired 1Gbs Ethernet. (House is fully wired). I did notice on every reboot MAC address for eithernet changes (messes up my DHCP reservation + security filtering for network access as it uses MAC + IP). Any ways for a Hail Mary tried enabling WiFi, unpluging ethernet. was able to do ezroot, install marketplace APK and update profile and to spoof ASUS Transformer tab and now Google play works. replaced Kodi as well via APK. installing games and apps from Google play now. Still hate this box though : (

I just noticed this response to a question on the Gearbest MXQ Pro+ webpage ad. I'm not sure if it is really for the MXQ Pro+ or the MXQ Pro, that mistake has been made by suppliers before.
Question:
Hi, How can we upgrade the firmware? I tried to upgrade via ota but there is a server error. Can you give a link? Regards

Hello Paulo,
Please kindly refer to this link: https://mega.nz/#!1xwAjb4A!X4c2N3Rov...NpW-pyi8cmoWBA to upgrade the firmware
The filename is ota_mxqpro_rv102.zip and is 502.9 MB zipped. It contains the files in the attached pic.
I still can't do any testing, my boxes are still on the slow boat from China, 5 weeks now, maybe they're lost ;-).
So if anyone wants to take a crack at testing this "update", be my guest and please report back your results but do so at your own risk...lolYou may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 1 photos.1 PhotoHK1 Pro Plus

Well I've unzipped and saw next stringgetprop("ro.product.device") == "p200" || abort("This package is for "p200" devices; this is a "" + getprop("ro.product.device") + "".");in updater-script, but MXQ Pro+ is p201 device so it's no suitable for MXQ Pro+
Otherwise ...
Please observe build date: 25 Jan 2016 !!!!

Hi All,
I have an issue with my box, 20160511 rom installed by factory. If I play 4K video, the hdmi somehow lost its sync, and the picture has lots of artifacts. (not just the video, the menu as well) I also noticed, the cpu usage is very high even with a stock fullhd movie(4k is very bumpy, at practice it is watchless). The strange thing, if I put the display to 1080p@24hz in the settings, the cpu usage is around the half than before. Almost all 4K videos runs smooth, no hdmi fragile as well.
If somebody knows a solution for it, please share with me. I hope it will be fixed in later firmwares.
P.S: I use Kodi 16.1 for playback.
P.S2: I see only 3 cpu core in Kodi's statistic, is that normal?

Got some free time today and i flashed SDROBOT rom. All i can say is the box is from another world(wifi and remote working).
So i was using the stock rom (the first one), did root, installed TWRP, made a backup of the stock rom and then restored the backup of TWRP sdrobot rom (https://cloud.mail.ru/public/LEfM/wqzPMigRL).

Is it possible to not have a button inside the AV socket? I couldn't get the player into bootloader mode. (I bought mine on bangood)
By the way, the strange core issue has been solved by pushing a factory reset in android. Now I see all the 4 cores in Kodi. But it still has a very high cpu usage during playback in 1080p@60hz.

First off, my box does NOT have a reset switch but this worked for me.
On a PC, go to to SD-robot's post here http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showt...#entry50045686 and download the firmware, USB burning tool and mac ether.ini files from his post.
Install the USB burning tool and drop the mac ether.ini file in the license folder (C:>program files(x86)>Amlogic>USB-burning-tool>license) and replace the original file.
Obtain a USB male to male cable (I made one from a couple of old cables - http://www.instructables.com/id/Male...o-A-USB-Cable/)
Open the USB burning tool and click on the second item on the top bar and change to English.
Plug the cable in to USB 4 on your box and plug into the PC, it should connect with the PC. Unplug from USB 4 but leave the cable plugged in to the PC. DO NOT USE the power adapter it will power itself from the USB cable.
Click on FILE in the USB burning tool and import the firmware image you downloaded, this will activate the START button.
Press start and plug the USB cable back in to USB 4
The firmware should start writing, it took about 4 minutes on my PC.
Connect it up to your TV and away you go.
The firmware is rooted and seems very stable, WiFi works but I haven't tested the remote that came with the box. Playstore works fine after it updated and Kodi installed and works fine.
Hope this helps a few of you.

Thanks bracky1 for the description, I was able to flash the 0529 rom shared in the first post. That was on my player originall 20160511 in the version of rom.
I monitoring the device a little, its 83-85 C° in and uses 40% cpu constantly, when its idle... (just as it booted to startup screen, without started a single app)
I used aida64 and elixir2 for monitoring, maybe the thermal values are not true.

Thanks bracky1.
A lot has been been discussed about installing the SD-robot's post. However all I have seen so far do require TWRP because many boxes dont have reset switch.
Please see here for example:
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...ware-with-twrp
Can you please confirm that this can be done without TWRP and as simple as just loading the image file onto the USB flash tool and following your instructions?

Orig1, yes that's the way I flashed the firmware. The only thing I might have missed is that I think I plugged the box in to the PC before running USB burning tool and Windows downloaded drivers.
Other than that, the above sequence worked for me. I can also confirm that the stock remote control works, a well as the WiFi.
