You have to open the device to find out the wifi chip.
I don't think you will get working firmware for such an old tv box.

China Gadget Reviews has this. I do not own this box and cannot know if this firmware is for your box or any benefit. I think it is a different link than the China Gadget Reviews link above.
As always, the risk is that of the user.
                  Good luck..

Mine is dated 29-2-2016, I believe it’s newer than the original MXQ that got released. I have opened up the device but I don't know where the chip is located to read it.
I purchased this from **** and seller sent me firmware. The firmware package they sent looks different from all the other files I’ve tried. I loaded this on to the SD card with holding reset and still not luck. The box doesn't even respond to the firmware. I've attached a picture of the package.

I've tried most of the MXQ firmware from that site but haven't had any luck. I’m hoping someone can point into the right direction as where the wifi chip is located on my board. Then once I identify it I’m hoping to get driver and inject into the firmware. I've atatched a picture of the board. Click image for larger version

I cannot tell from the picture, it needs to be better. The WiFi module will usually be very close to where the antenna lead is soldered to the PCB(board). If you list the numbers on the chips in that area, somebody will recognize the WiFi chip name.
                      Cheers.

BTW, Look through here and see if anything looks promising....scroll down.
