Mecool BB2 launcher

Just received a Mecool BB2 box, but the boot image it will play that loud Mecool theme music, which scares the hell out of me each and every time.

Is there a way to get rid of it?

Also the home screen seems to be a custom one, but there is no launcher settings that I can find anywhere.

It shows 5 large addon shortcuts at the bottom of the screen, but it seems to be impossible to remove or swap them with another shortcut.

One of them is Kodi 17, which I have no intention of using as long as the stable version isn't available so would like to swap the shortcut with SPMC, but even after uninstalling Kodi the shortcut is still there. Only it isn't working anymore.

I think the box is rooted as I see superuser be installed.

Any advice how to fix the above issues is appreciated.

1.To delete bootanmation.zip go with Fileexplorer to /system/media Folder and rename to .old or delete.Root needed.
2.If you have Internet on this device go to Playstore or without access to PS to APKpure and load a new launcher,one you like.Install it and confirm after press Homebutton that you want to use him always.
Change it in Settings "Startpage" to default,now after reboot you can use the loaded Launcher.

It looks like that Kodi and other Apps are installed under system/preinstall.Apps go to and delete them.Reboot.Reboot & to Recovery wipe /DalvikCache/Cache if you have a .Recovery.

Thanks for the help. I received the box just the other day, and it seems to have some serious firmware issues, like kicking out of Kodi every few minutes, screen flickering and no DTS sound just to name a few.

I googled and came on the Disquss site, where there were plenty of complaints about this device, so I won't bother with it and return it to the seller for a refund.

Will keep your advice in mind though as is might be useful in the future.

I would like to take up your offer, but how will that work out if at the end I have to send the box back anyway?

New devices always have issues when released. Its the china way. I download firmware later today can you list issues.... Kodi crashing is most likely media codex and dont delete boot animation as it will brick box i can change the boot animation and remove bloat and crap addons. You can return the box if you want may be good device when issues resolved.

This Not good advice they will brick device. Better to use customization tool and just change it from that. I make new boot for it. Just list issues with current firmware.

I just received it yesterday, so may not have detected all issues yet, but what I have found so far is no DTS sound. It may start as DTS but then falls back to stereo. There are also reports of no Dolby True HD, but I don't have such a file to test

Kicks out of Kodi and SPMC after a few minutes.

When you go in to Android settings the screen will flash 2-3 times.

The launcher is crap. Did I mention the annoying boor image and sound :-)

I noticed that there is a 19 September firmware available for download. I don't recall which firmware I have, but there is no OTA available when I check.

After all the whole box really looks like it is put together in someones backroom, so I'm afraid that this will reflect in the overall quality.

Hi all

Scooter i always delete the bootanimation.zip ,Pipo M9Pro,UT3,UT4,CubeT7 & even on the QBox that i won & set up last night ,the stock "android" white letters black screen" Bootanimation comes up.
Even Boot up time is faster <20sec i thing.That's really true.It dont brick any Device to delete it.I make a Video to show.

Depends on whats in the build prop deleting it sometimes causes boot fail. If it works great but if it doesnt box is bricked 😌

Scooter it looks like Rockchip & Amilogic are able to handle this.MTK too.At Moment my T7 Cam is bricked,maybe of latest flash,but after new flash i upload a Video to see it.
