I'm finding that some of the test releases of SDK 2.0 still include some components of the older SDK code...not everything was updated. Clearly Pipo/Rockchip didn't just start from scratch with the new SDK in order to save time.
On my M8 Pro if you go to to Settings/About...at the very bottom under Build Number it says SDK 2.0.
There wasn't much change in the build.prop or the init.rc files reflecting a new SDK version.
That isn't always Pipo's fault. The SDK likely contains code that was originally written for RK2xxx and 30xx chips that is still present. None of that stuff really changed on the 3188 implementation (which is a great thing for us developers).Randy

Hmh. An here I thought the SDK 2.0 was made to follow up on the minor changes and new capabilties - of the RK3188 versus its predecessors. Several hardware functions of the RK3188, were not possible under former sdk.Support your local flasher

Hi, couldn't see anywhere else on Pipo part of the forums to ask a couple of questions.
This app says it's only for Samsung devices, but above it it says it's compatible, do you know if it will work?
Is there a quick way to close all open apps? On my phone theres a little trash-can icon that closes all open apps.
Can anyone point me to an Amazon or **** link for a UK power adaptor? I'd like to be able to charge my tab at work, but would rather keep the lead there.
(i can see the power info on the plug (5v -2.5A), but not sure about the bit that actually goes into the tab)

Where the Play Store is concerned, the tablet thinks it is a Samsung device.
I haven't tried it, but it won't break the tablet if you try. It either will work, or it won't. Worst case, you would need to reflash...so do a backup before installing, just in case.
Be very careful about using other chargers with this device. Any variation from the Pipo spec might fry the battery protection circuits. This has been a problem with many users...including ME. You might see if you can find an actual Pipo charger designed especially for the M9.Randy

Ok... after 12 hours... stable but don't notice anything better nor worst... benchmarks remain the same, video performance same, battery same... will keep it while waiting for pipo/rockchip to really give us a version with the promised sdk 2.0 improvements...
Speaking of power buttons, I sold my Hero II to get this, one thing I like better in Hero II is the buttons feel solid & less accidental presses...

New to android
I recently purchased an M9, a month ago or so, so I assume that it is built on the newer board. That is if I am using the correct term, what I mean is the newer hardware. It still has the stock image on it, but I don't like not having root. I am a long time Debian Linux user, from Woody on up to my current systems that all run Jessie.
I am not a programmer, some simple bash scripting is about my limit. OH if I had only done things different back in high school.
I DO NOT HAVE A windows box. So all the flashing and rooting instruction that are at all current will not work for me. With that in mind;
1. From some posts I get the impression that my first step is to unlock the bootloader. So how do I determine what bootloader I have? An how do I unlock it if?
2. I have downloaded and extracted the Android SDK but not actually run it yet. I believe that I have my system setup to run 32bit software, but it is a 64bit system. I was going by a post from 2011 for what software I needed to install but that is pretty dated for the alpha systems I run.
3. My tablet is not 3G but I have learned reading this thread that the the 3G version will work fine on it.
4. I know about the "First time flashing" doc but have not had a chance to look at it yet.
Thanks
