I was able to get 135Mbps on the MX1 but maximum I could get from the CX1 was just 65Mbps...anybody knows if this is hardware limitation of drivers / firmware / setup ?

The Speed you getting on Wifi is depending on the follow things.
- The Internal Antenna
- The Wifi Router Setup
This means when you are on a Chanel with many other Stations your Wifi Speed will
drop.
You can try the follow Change your Wifi Chanel or Modding your Internal Antenna.
Most of it, it is enough to put the Antenna Outside of the Housing.

if i point the antenna directly up towards the router, I get around 20mbits downstream (using speedtest.net tool from the play store). if i point the antenna in any other direction, it drops to between 3 and 10mbit. (my provider gives me a 40mbit connection which is why i'm doing internet bandwidth tests, since my provider speed is not a bottleneck).
to me the wifi performs well, but it's very directional. I wasted so much time flashing different roms and kernels thinking that my crappy wifi performance was related until i realized that the positioning made all the difference in the world.
forgot to mention i'm using a cx919 and have an external, i think you're using a different stick without an external antenna so forget all this positional stuff that's been affecting me
