Newbie question with droid box m5k5 Amlogic meson8b

Hi, i've just heard about Kodi dropping support for android versions below 5. My system has version 4.4.2 and CPU is ARMV7 processor with hardware Amlogic Meson8b. Only bought it just over a year ago, so now a bit miffed that I got to ditch it. Is there no way to update it for Kodi 17 to run?

Meson8b... that's amlogic s805 if remember correctly
if yes
then you can try running libreelec 8
*libreelec 8 is a small Linux dedicated to run kodi 17 krypton (same as openelec)
You can probably run libreelec from sdcard without losing data/android... to see if it runs properly on your unit

I'll take your word for it. All it says through kodi system info is what I mentioned above, so I have no idea about it being s805. I'll try that link. Thanks for the info.
