H96 Pro+ 9377 wifichip Faulty or is it just weak!!?? Please help

    Hi everyone,

    I got my device 2 days ago. It was the generic H96 Pro+ 3/32gb with DDR4 ram S32 - V3 9377. Pictures are attached.

It came pre-installed with android 7.1.The installed build it came with was:

    aml_7.1_s912_q9377- H96PROPLUS_mac-20170422

Now the box turned on and everything worked except when I tried connecting it to the wifi it kept disconnecting. Then I read that there is a maleware in the forum. Downloaded Malewarebytes and it detected the wireless updated bug and deleted it. But this didn't do much. We have 2 wifi connection and on one it would connect and stay connected but wouldn't get much speed. This router is about 15 feet away from the H96. The other was 8 to 10 feet away and that is the one that kept disconnecting. Â*It's a wifi repeater so I put it inside my room and then it wouldn't disconnect. The connection was stable but the speeds again were super low. On both I got 0.5 to 1 mbps. While on the Laptop and my Phones at the same distance (Dell N5520, Note 4 and Moto xt1060) I got 7 to 7.5 mbp's on speedtest(I live in Pakistan and that's the kind of speeds we have). So it can't be the routers as the wifi works perfectly on the other devices.

I wanted to know if that is a normal thing for this box. Does it perform well for anyone whose router is more than 10 feet away from the device. Because without the wifi I can't do much with the box. It just is a worthless device then. So I hope this is just an issue with the one I got. I have returned it as I have a 7day return on it. I am gonna ask for a replacement device and give the box one more go.

Please share your experiences, by mentioning the Box model, Build and distance between wifi router and the box.

Also if not this box then what else would you recommend in the same price range or a little higher???

    Regards.

Well. When I get the replacement I'll definitely try that. I had both the routers on 2.4ghz and one is on 11. That one was working. The other is on 1. That's the one that caused the issue.

Thank you. I will definitely let you know what happens once I receive the replacement box.

I am still waiting on my replacement unit but thank you so much for letting me know. As soon as it get's here I'll flash it.

Did you use the usb method or the SD card method to flash yours??

I installed the rom mentioned at the bottom and it fixed the disconnecting issue I had, but then there was the issue of the net being super slow. I could barely browse the Web let alone use anything like Kodi or even YouTube. So I found a previous post where scooter2014 said he got better speeds by moving the wifi bullet/antenna to another spot away from the Wifi chip.

                  http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...oated-firmware

I did the same, moved mine toward the hidden usb ports. The box is working wonderfully now.........

                  EXCEPT

I can't seem to get USB 3.0 My Passport drives two 2tb ones and one 1tb to work as they make the box go black and it won't work until I reset it. The old USB 2.0 1tb works fine. Just the 3.0 ones don't work. I'll try again and see where I land. If nothing changes I won't post anythingÂ*

                  Thanks to
i7even  Flash125 tht thekider and scooter2014 for letting me in on the Android box experience. It's a wonder clean world

Shouldn't it be backwards compatible. They work on old usb 2.0 ports on the pc and laptop???

But good no know. Won't be plugging in my drives anymore. To bad can't use any new drives anymore as they all are 3.0.

                      Thanks scooter2014Â*

Quick Update!! The drives work if plugged in before turning on the device. Weird , maybe is a power issue so I'll refrain from using them as my data is much more important than the ability to use a 2tb drive
