Try to enforce the warranty on that remote to see what happens!
You are correct about warranty from these China vendors, it is pretty much non-existent. If the product is low in cost, I just consider it cost of doing business with China. If the product is high priced, I plan on purchasing it with some kind of warranty, like paying with PayPal, but that is not guaranteed either.
