Hi all,
I have a M8S Pro+ with the "bad flash" version.
I can however boot armbian from an MicroSD.
Is there a way to have this firmware on an SD-card and boot from it without touching the internal emmc firmware?
I know that the burn card maker will attempt to overwrite the internal storage, that may result in bricking my device.
The issue was discussed in the past but there was no solution at that time...
Thanks.

As hansampf says, you may be lucky if you don't have the 0829 OEM FW as standard ...
Amazing these old boxes are still turning up.
Good luck.

Out of all the crappy TV boxes I've tried so far, this one is half way decent! I really only use it for watching stuff in Google Movies as it has the DRM installed it allows me to download the movies in HD and watch them offline. Without the DRM you would only get 480p. I'm not too impressed with the Metoo custom interface, I would have preferred a more standard Android launcher, and even after installing a few different launchers, it seems almost impossible to get rid completely off the installed launcher. That, and a few spurious proggies I don't know what they are but can't seem to get rid off either, probably spyware or something, compelled me to investigate a custom rom and that is how I ended up on this site.
Some people seem to not care too much if they end up bricking this little box but with shipping to and conversion from US to AUD it cost me just under $60. Not something I just want to throw in the bin if I can help it. So read the warnings about bad Samsung MMC etc, even installed the AMlogic test proggie. Interestingly enough, the proggie tells me that the MMC is NOT on the danger list but when I opened up the box, it's marked with SEC713 B041 KLMAG1JENB which all point to bad ram. Build date is 8/15/2017. This should have been safe but doesn't look like it is. BE WARNED!
Pity, I was looking forward to a nice clean, lean looking Android without all the bs from Metoo.
cheers
