I just installed your rom on

    Edal K12 Pro Android 6.0 Amlogic S912 2GB/16GB

(you should add it to the title so others can find it and do the same)
got it from amazon, everything works, but there are a few issues

my Rii mini i8+ is a bit off
I can't tell if it's slow or somehow skipping
what's happening is that sometimes if I am typing quickly, it will miss or repeat some letters
It never did this before with other operating systems on other systems (win 10, retropie, osmc, android 6 etc)
    any ideas?

can't install android tv launcher (is this only for TVs? not android boxes?)

can't get "Android TV Remote Control" apk to work (should it?)

has anyone ever been able to get retroarch to work? how?

    ------------------------

Now, I'm trying to get root and can't seem to get good instructions anywhere.
    Kingroot and others didn't work.

I have found instructions to do this on xda for other devices in a post called:

"Mecool KM8 P 2GB/16GB S912 Amlogic TV Box Android 7.1, TWRP Root Instructions Russian"

Does anyone know a quick and easy way to do this?
one that maybe doesn't require flashing a non official twrp for another brand box etc...

Yes, you're right .. Better certainly wait for the official assembly on Android 8. Although it may not be .. it's easier to release a new model of a TV box with a new Android.

if amlogic release it then am sure we would all be right on it.. building from source is possible but would be more hassle than its worth
as the outcome would most likely be partly broken, without amlogic / other vendor updates (wifi BT ect)

With the latest version, I keep running into an issue where it seems like the settings arent sticking after reboot. I have to adjust by screen position to zoom out (91%). Now after every reboot, the screen is out of focus and I have to keep setting it. Also, Bluetooth keeps getting re-enabled after every reboot despite disabling it every time. This is occurring on two different boxes, including a brand new box that Im setting up.
Is there somewhere that we can download the previous versions from? It happened somewhere between the 1108 and latest version.

Thank you so much for your efforts Magendanz. Recently I installed Nano ROM on a beelink GT1 Ultimate. It is working smoothly except 3D games, apps like Google Earth still crashing. There are two things I would let you know. I'm not able to copy from Chrome (except address bar). When I power off  the TV box first boot doesn't recognizer the main launcher (I installed Nova), after booting the second time it works fine.

    Thank you.

To loose the internet connection after a time on idle its a big deal breaker. I cannot find the setting where pushing the on/off button on the remote, does shut down the device...
    Can someone describe it?

So, the Android TV variant (TVStock) has Google Play Store for Android TV and the non-ATV variants (Nano & Stock) like this have the "mobile" Google Play Store. By design, they only list apps designed to function on the target platform.

You can usually, however, load other apps from sites like APKMirror just by installing them from Chrome.

Some apps are not available in playstore like mc browser and and an Arabic tv app name DMI . I have beelink GT1 Ultimate , with the stock firmware all apps are shown

You don't need to root the device to add a file in TWRP File Manager.

And this is absolutely not in line with my wife acceptance factor !

Do you have an idea when it could be ? (If I may help, would be my pleasure)

Magendanz commented: Can you point me to a .kl file for that? I have all of them from the Nexus Player, NVIDIA Shield TV and Xiaomi Mi Box, so I've exhausted those repositories.
Well, it took time, but I learned a lot
The .kl file for the kbd Rii Mini i8+ Wireless (AZERTY) is Vendor_1997_Product_2433.kl, already included in your ROM. Of course, this file maps the QWERTY version.
As there is no Vendor_1997_Product_2433.kcm file in /system/usr/keychars directory I created one to map the Key Code names given by the .kl to characters in line with the AZERTY version of this kbd.

I thought I could have a trial on my box, but couldn't because my ROM is not rooted. After a quick search, didn't find how to root it... will have to dig more, but if any advice..?
I join the .kcm in zip (upload refused with .kcm extension ?) if you want to test it...
    Thx

OK, let me try with TWRP. And I come back on you soon with improvements, certainly. I already found some...

I've got the old remote without Settings, and so I never even noticed. If you diff the remote.conf and Generic.kl with the versions on the Beelink OEM firmware, you might be able to spot the difference and fix it.
