Which of these S912 boxes would you recommend?

Title says it all but I would like to have Bluetooth, 5Ghz wifi and a Gigabit LAN port. Also more than 1gb RAM, 2gb should be plenty. Are these S912 boxes worth the extra few quid over the S905/S905x ones in anyone's opinion?

Do you have a budget in mind?

Also take a look at the work being done by Superceleron, Magendanz and other to see just how far these boxes are being taken from the factory stock.

Also, take a look at DRAM and eMMC performance, which tends to be as important as CPU perf. Ideally, you'd also want to get a box with Widevine L1, but those are hard to find.

My personal favorite right now is the M8S Pro (S912), but it doesn't have Widevine L1 like the M8S Pro+ (S905X).

I'm planning on spending about 70 euro on it. I'm looking at the x92 or the t95z plus. Are these any good and which is the better of the 2?

Do you mean this one here? https://www.amazon.co.uk/YUANDA-64bi...ywords=m8s+pro

The 3gb version in the middle?

These are both based on a slightly older Amlogic reference board (q201) from the new boxes shipping with Nougat (q20x), but the differences are slight. About the only impact is that you'll get Nougat releases much later (or never at all) and may have to jump through some hoops to get them to work with custom ROMs, which tend to be built on the latest OEM firmware on the latest OS so that they can offer all the latest Android features.

I don't mind paying a bit extra for a better nougat one. I'd rather have the custom ROM's from you and the others which make it perform even better. Is the M8S you mentioned one of these newer boards?

Thanks Guest I'll go with one of these ones so. I had an X96 but I gave that to my dad because he was using an old S805 MXQ and it was really slow and kept having problems.

I'll be looking forward to looking at the custom ROM's and will be browsing this forum again (I've been offline months). One of my favorite things to do on these boxes is try out custom ROM's and experiment.

I'll order one of them tomorrow night.

Yes, and there are only a couple Amlogic q20x devices (e.g. M8S Pro, KM8 P) available at this point, almost all with firmware developed by VideoStrong. They'll be the first to get any custom ROMs for Nougat.

Cool thank you for all the useful information. I'll order one tomorrow night and I'll keep this thread updated when I get it.

EDIT: I had enough money in and just ordered it now from Gearbest. Better price anyway but I pressed the EU warehouse instead of China because it'll be so much faster even though it cost €10 more. It was €70.85 including post which is very close to what I said the budget was. What are the odds, it's a sign

I got that box in the post today. I'm happy enough with it but I noticed when I done a speed test I got 94mb/s and for some reason terrible WiFi like 4mb/s. It's supposed to be 1000mb/s (my Internet is 360) and dual band Wi-Fi. That's probably just my router I'm sure I'll be able to fix that. I should probably try your custom nougat ROM and see how that goes for me. I don't mind experimenting and trial and error, that's mainly what I do with android boxes when I get one

I'm having this one problem that seems to happen on stock and this ROM. The language keeps changing to Korean I think it is? Everytime I reboot it changes and I have to keep changing it back to English.

                      Turn off CEC language detection.

You have to disable auto language change in HDMI CEC settings

Hi Magendanz, wondering if u can help out this newbie. M8S Pro+ can really play Netflix HD? 720 or 1080? Did u test? I have a GT1 and in apps like hulu, hbo, directtv and some others, the resolution quality isnt as good as in my old amazon firestick, is it because GT1 doesnt have widevine? I apologize if this is a little off topic. Thank you.

                        Hi Floki ,

Yes you need Widevine for this , i think it has to do with DRM and so on .

There are only some Boxes from here which support that , if you need

this , buy one with Widevine .

                        good luck
