    Latest firmware QX1 - Interesting tests

    Hey folks, I am getting to work on my ROM and I flashed the latest firmware 7/16 stock.
    I did root it myself using ADB.

    I do not see frame skipping on this!

    I played a 1080P MKV video and it was perfect. Then I tested Netflix with the movie I have been using to see the frame skipping issue (Maximum Conviction). I do NOT see the frame skipping.

    Now I do not mean stuttering, pausing, etc. I am talking about the constant jumpy video unless your moving the mouse issue.

    It looks like they have fixed it in this release!

    I am going to use it for my ROM and also provide Leolas custom kernels in the package.

    Stay tuned.

    I didn't notice frame skipping too in any rom in qx1, and I searched in a lot of videos for it, did you notice it in the previous firmware versions?

    I need to test frame skipping in the x7 port to qx1 with the stock kernel.

      Sounds great

      Awesome Bob! I have been hoping for the QX1 custom ROM for a while. I love the QX1 but the ROM (June 9 1080p) I have been using was a little buggy. I didn't upgrade becasue I though the new one only had a 720p kernel. Also I was gone out of the country for most of the time. Now I'm testing a batch of 5 remotes and it seems like the USB is laggy or buggy on the QX1. A lot of them get choppy on the QX1. Also text is very hard to enter form the keyboard. It double presses every other letter or doesn't press anything at all.

      I am also working on a video for the T518 and its USB is very good. I finally just gave up on the QX1 for my remote reviews and went to the T518. The ROM on the T518 is also excellent by the way. The only thing missing is support of webcams and also that it seems to get unstable when you get to the edge of your wifi network (freezes apps or reboots).
      Anyway, If the USB hasn't improved on the new QX1 ROM you are working with maybe you can take a look at it. Good USB really makes using an air mouse remote much more enjoyable.

      Anyway, glad to hear you are back and feeling better.

        Speaking of frame skipping

        By the way, I tried Archos Media player on my MK908 with the finless 1.5 and it doesn't seem to skip at all playing MKVs. Maybe that app could be a temporary work around for people. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

            SKIPPNG IS BACK!

            OK so I made my custom ROM from the latest stock ROM that did not seems to have frame skipping in Netflix.

            After doing my ROM, the frame skipping is back in Netflix (not in other movies).

            It appears my build.prop edits to spoof a Samsung device might be the cause!

            My ROM will be delayed a little while I figure this problem out.

                OK so I found it. In my edited build.prop I was using a Google signature of 4.1.1 for the Samsung release keys. I removed that, which will cause some app compatibility, but it caused a different version of Netflix to be downloaded. BINGO... no frame skipping!

                Shit... I hope I have not been causing this problem all along with my build.prop edits and 4.2.2!

                Anyway, expect new ROM soon now. Just have to do a little more testing.

                  Good. Related to kernel I added to my sources sam321 gpu overclock, but I feel the stick much hotter than before, so I will make some test before I release gpu overclock.
                  Anyway 18350 on antutu at 1080p is not a bad score
                  I am scared to test the kernel at 720p, maybe +20.000 is posible in qx1.
                  But like I ssid before more testing is needed, I don't want anyone burn his stick

                    Frame skipping still present in Imito Kernel!

                    OK so I got the Netflix issue resolved but then I took a HARD LOOK at a MKV video I have on SDcard (best way to test frame skipping performance is a NTFS formatted external SDcard NOT through wifi).

                    Imito kernel still has frame skipping but is a different way! It skips very differently than before ROMs. But alas it is still there!
                    Seems our Dev's here on Freaktab can do better than a full Dev house even from Rockchip or iMito!



                    Leolas kernel = NO FRAME SKIPPING!
                    So, the problem still exists and it seems iMito just changed how the skipping shows up.

                    Also thanks to phjanderson the guy that fixed the issue and released sources!


                    Strauzo... I think it is time to forget about Rockchip help and just do what is right and release sources. That's my personal opinion my Dev friend! Just do whats right at this point as no sense in doing it otherwise. Your only doing this:



                    OK so my new ROM will come with Leolas 720 kernel no OC as stock flash. Of course I will provide all the kernels from Leolas in the flash tool so you can have OC and 1080P. I will also provide the iMito stock kernel to use if you like.

                      ROM IS DONE!

                      OK my ROM is done. I will await a new ROM from Imito per Geekbuying before I release this.

                      I also must do a lot of updates to the readme.txt.

                      I expect to release this ROM this week.

                      I have to work tomorrow and also my Sciatic Nerve (look it up if you don't know) is giving me fits today. While better than a month ago, it is still giving me issues.

                      Anyway, I told you all the QX1 was next and I will work hard to make you all a much needed ROM
