Now if I had a ROM dump I could make /system RW. But if this is not a RK chip (another posts suggests it is a All Winner) then it would be new learning for me as I bet the ROM is not in the same format.

Yes this is an All Winner A10 processor not the A8 stated on the box.

I posted the pics here and on another thread. I also reported I recently bricked after hitting "Un-root" in Z4root.
Which I just exchanged for a fresh one.

im bumping around through files and folders with Root Explorer and so far im not seeing anything about but I belive i may have a set of RK28 drivers on my Acer Ill check update.

Did a factory reset and downloaded Z4 hit Un-Root. It finished faster than I could blink. After restart BRICKED! Off to Biglots to return!

I keep seeing places where they reference this processor running at 1.2 and sometimes even 1.5 Ghz. not sure yet if this is a different configuration in hardware or software though. but could put an ICS back on the table

I was reading somewhere last night that it runs from 600ghz-1.5ghz. If that makes sense to anyone else.

I installed NoFrills CPU Controll and attempted to run it above the stock 1.008 GHz and it caused a crash/reboot on including the slightly higher 1.056 GHz setting.

Same basic results with SetCPU last night. I was able to run at 1.2Ghz, but very unstable. A quick look around this morning shows that there is something in the firmware that makes the change so it can run at the higher frequencies (The ability to adjust the Vcore?). Will look around later to see what I can find out.

Another Polariod owner

So I picked up one of these tablets and am really liking it. Installed Z4root and got the re-root un-root screen. I won't be hitting un-root . So I uninstalled the app to make sure I don't do something stupid. Anyway, I guess my next step is to try and get the market set up but first I'll be side loading some root apps to see if they will work. Glad we have a good forum for this tablet. Look forward to developments with this one.
