Its an awesome rom based on the Nexus Player so it comes equipped with the Android TV interface. I highly recommend trying it out! The setup is miles ahead of what the box is equipped with by default. The .IMG file has to be flashed with the Amlogic USB Tool. The version I used was dated 12/1/2017 and listed as the "TV-Stock" variant. Although I'm sure the other two files would work as well. Also, after flashing the firmware the stock recovery is replaced with a working version of TWRP 3.1.1 so no need to boot from USB every time you want to use TWRP. I also flashed Magisk 14 and Xposed System-less 88.2 SDK 25 and both are also working. Magisk is equipped with a tool that allows you to hide root access from individual apps as opposed to disabling root altogether. tHE FIRMWARE CAN BE FOUND HERE....

Can you please provide the link to the thread?

    good day i got the x96 mini and i want to ask why in some applications on google play it says your device is not compatible with this version. for example i want to download this application: https: //play.google.com/store/ apps / details? id = ru.bastion7.realisticweather.pro the developers could not find me any solution. I downloaded the application from aptoide but did not run normally. any solution;

    Thank you Jsassu20,

Both have helped me out tremendously. Your first suggestion fixed the launcher issue. The second (the custom ROM) helped me with my bootloop and initial impressions is that this is a much better experience for the android boxes. I really like this ROM at the moment. I will mess around with this and maybe update all 3 of the boxes with this.

    Thank you very much.
    TOG

P.S. I guess I didn't need the first issue resolved then since I'll be changing the ROMs altogether.

Ok, thank you Jsassu20, I will give that a try.

At the moment and I sort of rendered one of the boxes useless by installing SuperSU. It freezes at the intro page after the animation. Doing a wipe cache factory reset doesn't help.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the firmware so that I can reinstall it? The link on one of the previous pages only has empty folders when I go in them.

I wish I could remove the original launcher all together. It happens on all 3 boxes I have. I have not had this issue before on other boxes like the T95m.

Other than this and that it gets quite warm, I like it. The box runs nicely. But this glitch really annoys me.
Use system app remover for root from play store and remove oranth launcher.

I noticed a update via wireless update 20171202-0930 file size 214.28 Where would the downloaded file be located
the automatic update doesn't work, the way i did it before was to get the update.zip file and place on a sdcard and install it manually - but this time I can't find the file.

another budget device that works well max 720 but some of us don' care much as long as it does the job.
Why do we set up the default framebuffer size to 720P?
It is for it to be able to display and run more fluently.

I have Build 20171009.10:49, is there a newer version? I've tried to update but it's saying this is the latest.

Nova is technically working. It is just the initial boot (or reboot) where it seems to use MediaBox. But after I click the home button Nova launcher works as expected. It's just annoying that you have to deal with it every time you start the box. I tried HomeSquare 2 as well with the same results.
If you don't want to set it to each boot, you can specify the default launcher
