NEW - MK908-Universal Custom rom based on the 8/2/13 tronsmart update

This is the rom that will supposedly work on all versions of the mk908 including v3.0 and can maybe help some people recover from a boot loop. I had a hard time finding a kernel combination that worked well with it. It's got some weird video settings, I think stock it may have the ability to change to 1080p on the fly but the stock kernel still has frameskip. Regardless, here's a repack including a stable kernel that I made, and the stock kernel is included as well just so people have all the options. It's a crappy repack being that I don't have the right kernel sources or settings for this system but it does work. Please feel free to test. Thanks!

    Thanks hoabycsr.
The new kernel does boot up correctly with the latest hardware.

I'm waiting for 1080p kernel to become available.
I guess we would have to wait until Tronsend releases one that works with the latest hardware.

Thanks a lot!! Maybe this rom is that I need..

        I have some questions...

This ROM resolve problems with netflix and wifi? (Wifi does not run properly, when I use netflix or playstore or some network services, Wifi out of response, but is not a network problem, because all my devices work fine).

The last one... could you provide a tutorial to flash this ROM?

Thanks a lot by your work, and sorry for my poor English.

          no kernel82 inside this pack

While trying to flash, the tool tells me, that "kernel82.img" is not present. i used the kernel.img instead. was that correct, or should i wait for a repack with kernel82 included?

ahh crap yeah use kernel.img instead of kernel82.img. sorry for the mixup. stockkernel.img is the tronsmart stock kernel that has video skipping. I'll get the upload fixed. Thanks!

Pretty sure I compiled that in but I will check on that. Thanks for the feedback.

                  Hi,

I believe I have a new version of the MK908 since only the stock rom from Tronsmart seems to work but with the video jerky its least than usable.

Basically all other roms fail to get passed the boot-screen, today and thanks to hoabycsr I gave this rom a try, at first it seemed like it was going to work but sadly it doesn't for me ;(

Basically, after a successful flash I boot the stick up and I'm greeted with easily the best looking android boot screen I've seen, after that I get the wizard, I yell YESSS! but I spoke to soon, I click skip wizard and then I get black screen.

I think I've narrowed down the problem or least with this room, it seems to be a problem with the USB. Basiclly I can boot the flash but soon as I plug in a USB device to control the device it goes black screen.

I have 2 controllers, one is a gyro mouse with a usb dongle that I assume works on 2ghz and works pretty much on everything I've ever tested it with - it also works with stock rom... additionally I have a Microsoft mouse that also works without any drivers and pluggin this in just makes the screen go black too...

I'm ready to throw this stick at the wall :|

Could this be because my TV is 1080p? - I don't care what resolution it runs at to be honest, just want it play netflix and damn avi files :| - Only had it a week and I'm thinking of flogging it already, what a let down for my first android, that was over hyped on YouTube with no apparent problems :\

Basically I follow the procedures of enabling 'Connect to PC' ensuring that disable USB debugging, installing the USB driver in my Windows 7 x64 setup and the flashing tool see's the device in all various flash tools and even reports a succesful flash...
You do not precise it but have you used "EraseIDB" option before flashing ?
And, after flashing, set power off the 908 ?

Currently method > EraseIDB > Flash > Pull out usb cable

Are you suggesting > EraseIDB > Flash > EraseIDB > Power off?

                        Is this wrong?

I'm sure sorry to hear that... it's a weird rom and the kernel was different than any I'd seen.. So using one of our current kernels it ends up a little weird. I didn't have those issues but my stick is v1.0 so...

How can I find out which stick version I have, I've already opened the case as I didn't have a pin to hit the flash button :P

Also can you confirm that my flashing procedure is correct:

Device > Enable USB storage by enabling PC connect
                            Device > USB Debugging
                            Computer > Install USB Drivers
                            Computer > Load Flash Tool
Device > Hold down flash button and insert usb and wait for Bong noise
                            Computer > Click Clear/EraseIDB
                            Computer > Click Flash
                            Device > Unplug after flash
Then plug device into TV and boot as usual.

That sounds about right. The version number is literally printed on the circuit board.
