Well that’s good would you say I don’t need to do anything to it, I just have it resting on it’s side.

    thanks

Actually, that is quite cool compared to my boxes......

Side load it from Aptoid store.

    Look out for crashes.

Best to check temps by installing CPU Temperature from Aptoide (old app, allows for a temp overlay while running apps)

Thanks for replying, unfortunately, some things I will not know to answer now, but for now I will try to get some new resistors with different ohms, ranging from 30 ohms to 50 ohms. As for the holes in the lid, I still did. I'm thinking of something new, but at the moment I have no tools. I'll try to upload some image as soon as my new phone arrives.

    Some questions ...

My 7mm fan fits inside without much issue - the lid doesn't close up completely, but it is good enough - all corners fixed nicely.
(1.56mm air gap all round - have to bend the corners down slightly until the screws bite nicely)

Have you got a hole (28mm) or holes (6x 6-8mm) in the lid ? 6 in a hexagon pattern - no hole in the centre.
If not there is the problem with cooling when the fan is slow.

About 33 Ohm would probably give about 2/3 voltage at a guess !

Let me know if any of this helps ...

40x40 heatsink is the biggest that will fit (need to fit it on the diamond, not square to the box edges - careful not to touch any components !)
Standard HS and hole(s) saves removing the HS and replacing with all the concomitant possibilities of damage ... !!!!

Well done getting the soldering done - I have many years of experience and there are still moments ... Eeek

Hi P.X, all right? It's been some time since I posted and I'm finally putting your teachings into practice. Today arrived another kit of heatsinks for Pi3 so I decided to buy a soldering iron (as I regret, was very expensive), solder and a resistor, I got only one,
if I am not mistaken of 56 ohms (4 tracks: Green, Blue, Black and Gold ), the electronics lord removed it from an old plate since it had no new.

I did based on your last project, I used the underside of the board to solder the red wire, I think it was good, I had never done anything like that. I had some difficulty because the soldering iron is not suitable for soldering small components. The result is a quiet fan, however it does not fan well and therefore did not have a good result in cooling. Well, where I live here is very hot.

As the cooling was not good I ended up removing the resistor and now the fan looks like a washing machine and my ears are aching. lol. I would like to know what ohms I can use to reduce maybe 30% of the rotation without losing much cooling capacity of the fan. Another thing I would like to know is if I can sand the CPU heatsink to get 3mm height.

Or would it be more appropriate to buy a new one? I'm thinking of something with the following dimensions: 40x40x5mm or 50x50x5mm. My idea is to make the box can be closed, because with a 7mm fan it is not possible to screw the box cover. In addition I've been seeing some heatsinks for motherboard on the internet, some models have a flat part, as if it were the place to put the fan. Have you seen anything like that?

Number 2 allows you to set the voltage you want using the little pot much the same as linked above. That would be my choice. But, your choice ...

So going for variable fan speed is too much of a hassle I guess?

Then its either the 50ohm resistor or the Buck DC-DC, not both right?
Which one of these would you recommend to get the job done? Am trying to get everything from banggood to get them shipped fast.

Nur US$6.92, kaufen Sie den besten Größe: 8,6 x 12,33 mm. Eingangsspannung: DC 4,2 V - 10 V. Ausgang: 3,3 V, 800 mA. Boost-Module oder Buck-Module geben die Betriebsspannung an. Bitte überschreiten Sie nicht die Betriebsspannung, da sie leicht beschädigt werden könnten! Online-Shop zum Großhandelspreis.

    What's an "std" btw?
Do u think this HS will do or could it be too big? https://www.banggood.com/404011mm-Al...r_warehouse=CN
Also, am having trouble finding a 50-60ohm resistor online, the value seems pretty low, would you say a Potentiometer like this one https://www.banggood.com/RV24YN20S-B...r_warehouse=CN would be a good alternative. I still cant find any rated at ~ 50ohm though.

    Thanks in advance!
