Is there a possibility that the stick works fine, but that he's broken in someway because he can't connect to the laptop? Or is it so that when it works, everything should work?
Isn't there an installer for Rockchip drivers?

mm bad OTG port? tried another cable microusb? just ideas!

Did you try to turn on the USB (connect to pc) from the cx919 settings? Cx919 will ask if you want to turn on the USB storage. If so turn it on. Then use the finless tool to switch it. (the device 1 must be pink first. Then green afterward )
If you don't ever get pink on device one then your PC is not connected to cx919.
What exactly do you mean? Windows hasn't installed any drivers for it..? If by removing them you mean uninstalling usb drivers from device manager, i allready did it. Several times.
Yes i tried the ''connect to pc'' option but nothing happens.. My set up: CX 919 in tv, micro usb from 919 to usb in laptop. Then in settings when i check ''connect to pc'', nothing happens. I have never seen the pink light..
      Thanks for your help btw

Have you tried a different usb port. On my laptop only when I connected it with a usb 2.0 port windows 8 saw the cx-919.

#94 said to try another USB port on your PC. Heard not to connect to USB 3 port.

Well, if you can see what's displayed on CX-919 then that's not the way to get into "flash mode". Power off CX-919. Remove all cables except the OTG. Now hold down the function button while connecting OTG to the PC USB until you hear a "Beep".
If you don't hear it, try another USB port on PC. (The earlier method was for "drivers already installed in PC". When you turned on USB storage but nothing happened then USB drivers were not installed.)

Check the control panel and see if the drivers installed were MS drivers?

Before removing the drivers from the device (CX-919 or Rockchip) check to see if they are indeed Microsoft drivers. If so, that's the problem. They must be removed from the system32 folder or where ever they are. If not, every time you insert the CX-919 you get the same MS drivers installed. And, it just won't work. Bob said this is the most difficult part of the steps. That's why I keep on doing it on another machine I have. (XP finally got it.)

This is what I did to connect it to Win 8, finally.

First of all, I tried many times. Then I realized that my OTG usb cable was not inserted all the way in. The port is not very firm. Any way I did not get anything after several attempts. Then I changed the USB cable to another solid but shorter one.
Removed all cables including HDMI cable.
Inserted the USB to OTG at the CX-919 (micro USB port but not the DC port).
Then hold down the function key really hard and insert the other end of the USB to Windows 8.
I saw the Device Manager refreshed its content display. There it was, the Rockchip USB device.
Check the driver property, it said that rockusb.sys 2.0 by Fuzhou Rockchip Elec. Co. was installed in
              Windows\system32\DRIVERS\ folder.
Start the Finless tool RKBatchTool (mine was Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.6) and there the device 1 was green.
At this point, you can start the Finless 1.5 ROM_Flash_Tool_137 to flash the ROM.

CX-919 sits on top of two cooling fans

Seems to be working fine for over heat issue.Click image for larger version

                          Thanks for your replies andyjwang!

However, your suggestions didn't really help..

But i did get further, because i managed to get the Rockusb drivers installed.
I did it manually through device manager. I selected the unkown device and selected manually the ''drivers'' folder in the Rom folder.

Now, when i open the flash tool i get the message ''Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb''.
When i click on ''Reboot to flash mode'' i get the message: Device can not do switch, because it is not msc device.

                          Someone?

This message ''Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb'' means the device is already in flash mode! My readme tells you this! Just erase NAND and flash the ROM now.

Settings get reset when I remove power cable

In order to follow the instructions here, I am supposed to keep the "Connect to PC" checked. Then remove all cables except the HDMI. After I get the ding on connecting the OTG to PC, the finless flash tool shows device found, but when I do "reflash" as per the instruction, it tells me the device is not msc device. When I connect it again to the TV and check its settings, the "Connect to PC" is unchecked.
Any ideas about how I should proceed?
